Yells of pain fill the room, it smelled of blood and sweat. The glimmers of surgical equipment fill the eyes of a gold, yellow, and white fox. The joy and fear filled his heart as the cries of a small kit filled the room. "It's a girl! Congratulations!!" Said the main doctor as they wrapped the small kit in a towel. The new father looked at the crying bundle and was overwhelmed with joy. "She's beautiful." He said as tears rolled down his cheeks. The mother was exhausted, she had been in labor for 23 hours. She looked up at her husband, smiled, then closed her eyes.
1:43 AM
The recovery room
"Are you awake?"
She mumbles and rolls over to face her partner.
"Yes, honey. I'm awake, what do you need?" She said calmly knowing he didn't mean to wake her. "I need to... well... what will we do about our daughter?" She could hear worry in his voice. "What do you mean? Isn't she a perfectly normal Light or Dark fox?" "No." The word echoed through her mind. 'Is she not normal at all? Is she... disfigured?' She thought with terror flowing into her heart. "Wh- what?" He sighed and looked into the blue-hazed eyes of his wife. "She is half of each of us. Literally. I'm afraid the royals will take her away from us, and... it took so long..." The sorrow filled him as tears started flowing down his fur. "She will be fine." He looked at his wife, he was being crushed by the dread of loosing Dabiru. "I can't see, but I can show sight that others can't. You will see, I won't let anything hurt her." They both laid in bed until sleep had gently landed upon them.
