"You are my friend Can Divit, my best friend," Sanem said those words softly to herself standing across the room from him. He was talking and laughing with the other guests, just being himself and Sanem had never loved her friend more. He had opened the top two buttons of his white cotton shirt to cope up with the warmth inside the restaurant and his hair were being especially unruly, strands of them getting out of their usual confinement, falling all over his forehead and shoulders. In other words, he was looking breathtaking and she couldn't take her eyes off him. Can and I are just friends, Sanem repeated that to herself.

The party had started a couple of hours ago and more and more people were pouring in. By the looks of it, it would be dawn before it would be over. Earlier that day, their agency had received yet another campaign, this time for the most popular banking app of Turkey. It had all happened really quickly, so quickly that only a few people in the agency actually knew about it when they got the news. So when Can told everyone about it followed by the announcement that there would be a company-wide celebration tonight everyone had jumped in with both feet. As always whenever Can wished for something, the universe seemed to be conspiring, going above and beyond to make his wish come true. He wished for a party, and this awesome party was organized within a matter of minutes. Can and his magic touch, Sanem chuckled to herself.

It seemed like the agency was finally coming out of its troubled times. Finally, there was some room to breathe. This had definitely loosened up Can for sure. The worry lines that had invaded his broad forehead for the past few weeks were absent this evening. This fact alone was worthy of celebration Sanem thought. He should always be smiling and laughing. The only lines that would be allowed on his face were those laugh lines, the ones that started on the corner of his eyes and made his entire face look ever so more beautiful. Can and his breathtaking smile, Sanem wished for that smile to be there forever.

Now he was nodding at something Deren said and his eyes were scanning the room. The moment they landed on her, his face relaxed and a smile broke free that reflected in her own. He raised his eyebrows and nodded at her as if asking 'are you ok?'. Sanem quickly nodded back reassuring him feeling all kinds of warm and fuzzy inside. Just a day ago, the confrontation with Fabri had shaken up the agency and Sanem had received quite a bit heat from everyone for her role in that whole messy deal. But throughout the ordeal Can had stood by her, never allowing her to be put down by anyone. He had been a true friend throughout. Now it was her turn to watch out for him and that man really needed some friends in his life. She would be the one he could count on. She realized how few people he actually allowed to be close to in his life and for some implausible reason, and in spite of all that had happened, she was one of them. Can and his steadfast loyalty, Sanem wished with all her might to be worthy of it.

As she looked around, she could see Leyla and Emre in the corner chatting and laughing together. A small tinge of discomfort passed through her but with every passing hour, she was coming to terms with the possibility that her sister and Emre could actually be good for each other. Anything to get that snake-woman Aylin away from all of them. Besides, if Can could forgive him so could she. Thoughts about the lies and the past led her back to thinking about Can. She would never ever lie to him again she promised herself. She was his friend, the one he couldn't love anymore, the one he didn't trust enough, the thought made her a bit sad. His trust in her was a very fragile thing right now and the last secret between them, the one that had led him to lose his photography license was still hanging between them. She wasn't sure if she could tell him about it just yet. Maybe after she became worthy of his trust again, maybe after he believed that she truly didn't mean any harm, maybe then she could tell him about her last worst mistake. Maybe by then, he would understand somehow the ridiculousness of that whole situation. Maybe he would finally, finally understand the logic behind her illogical actions. So many maybes and so much uncertainty but she was sure that he would understand. Can and his big, kind heart, Sanem prayed for that forgiveness.
