❨ WHEN THE PARTY'S OVER❩
CHAPTER NINE:
DANGER DANGER‧ : *: ‧ °✧
"help me!" the sudden shrill scream of a child causes (y/n) to jump from her sleeping state. she reaches around the grass for her flannel.
one she finds it, she slides her hand into the pocket, wrapping her fingers tightly around the knife.
the dry grass crunches beneath her chucks as she walks toward where the screaming was heard.
"help, please!" the same voice cries out, causing her to quicken her steps.
she ends up climbing up a dirt hill, her eyes widening as she gets to the top and sees her four boys strangling a little boy.
anger surges through her veins at the sight.
walking on the tips of her toes, the teenage girl goes further away from them before hopping over the fence. she bites her bottom lip in concentration as she sneaks up behind them, gripping the knife so tightly it's sure to leave a dent in her skin.
as soon as she's close enough, she lets out an angry shout.
"what the hell is this?"
the sudden interruption causes the boy's to all jump, dumbfounded expressions adjourning each of their faces.
"bab—"
"shut up." she rolls her eyes, though deep down the nickname causes her heart to flutter, "let the boy go."
"what? hell no." henry snaps, tightening his grip on the whimpering child.
(y/n)'s eyes lock with patrick's, targeting his weakness. she gives him puppy eyes and pouts, knowing he'll falter and convince henry to stop.
"h-henry maybe we should leave him be."
the mullet wearing boy glares at his tall friend.
"i said no, the answer is no. the little shit made me look like a fool a few weeks ago at school, i've been trying to find him ever since. i'll do this with or without you."
"hate to rain on your parade, bowers, but you always look like a fool." the daring female laughs dryly.
a gust of wind sweeps past, rustling leaves and tousling hair. as her gaze shifts to the little boy still trapped in henry's grip, her mind races.
with a swift motion, she flicks her knife open and lunges at henry. he instinctively backs away, releasing the boy. (y/n) watches triumphantly as the boy bolts to safety, his small feet pounding against the pavement.
"are you fucking kidding me?" henry growls, turning to his cousin, eyes looking almost completely black as anger boils deep within him.
she's so caught up in watching the boy run that she doesn't notice him making his way towards her, his fists clenched tightly.
a forceful shove to her chest sends her sprawling onto her ass.
"hey! the hell was that for?!" she can barely even blink before two strong arms are pulling her up and tugging her away.
"patrick, what're you doing?" she pulls herself out of his grip but continues to speed walk beside him.
the boy doesn't answer, intertwining their fingers and walking until he thinks they're as far away from henry as possible.
"i just didn't want you getting hurt." he shrugs, his tongue poking out to wet his bottom lip.
"what are you talking about? take me back to the barrens, i wanna hang out with you gu—"
