WHEN THE PARTY'S OVER ❩
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN:
BLOOM

‧ : *: ‧ °✧

"hey, chickee." beverly's soft spoken voice sounds from beside (y/n), causing her to lift her head.

the sleepy eyed girl hums in response.

"we should get up now, yeah? maybe go out to the movies or something."

"no. if we go out there's a huge possibility that we'll see henry and the gang. or oliver. or those annoying ass losers."

the red head chuckles at her friend's words, lifting the blanket off the both of them.

she had spent the night yesterday, and as they were watching television they fell asleep on the couch.

"what if we go out to ry's? you haven't seen him in a while."

at the sound of ryan's name, the female perks up, a dull feeling of guilt in her chest for not visiting him as often as she could've.

"okay." (y/n) chuckles, watching beverly do a small dance of excitement.

the two girls get up and head up the stairs to (y/n)'s room, taking turns showering, brushing their teeth, and getting dressed.

after finishing, they grab their bikes and head into town.

it doesn't take long for them to reach ryan's, and the sight before them makes them gasp. the building was in ruins, a mere shadow of what it once was.

(y/n) glances around and urges beverly to follow her to the back, having just seen a van pull up there.

as they park their bikes, a familiar head of dark brown hair emerges from the vehicle.

"ryan!" the female shouts. he smiles at her and immediately opens his arms wide.

they hug as if they haven't seen each other in years, hands gripping tightly and eyes squeezed shut as they savor the embrace.

all too soon, the hug ends, and a content sigh escapes the woman's lips.

"look at you! you're about to pop." ryan says, gesturing towards the woman's belly. she smiles softly and rubs her hand along it.

"halfway there now."

beverly walks up and hugs the boy as well, blushing as he kisses the top of her head. unbeknownst to (y/n), they may or may not have gone on a few dates.

"what happened?" the girl finally asks, ignoring the pang in her chest at the sight of her lovestruck friends.

it felt like as soon as she lost her love, everyone else found theirs.

"uh, it's a long story." he nervously chuckles.

"we have time."

"why don't we all go to mine?" ryan suggests, "you can put your bikes in the back of the van."

"sure."

"so you burned the building down yourself?" beverly asks, her pale fingers brushing back a few stray strands of the boy's hair.

(y/n)'s mouth turns to a frown, and she immediately looks away. she missed running her fingers through patrick's soft tufts of hair.

ryan chuckles dryly, nodding, "god, you must think i'm crazy now."

"it's not you that's crazy. it's this god damn town. something about it just isn't right." the pregnant girl huffs, eyes watering a bit.

ryan notices and scoots a little away from beverly, extending one arm and urging (y/n) to snuggle with him.
