"That was fun. What is it about killing baddies that just gets your motor running?" Faith handed Dean the last gallon jug of demon blood they just drained in an abandoned warehouse.
Dean raised his brows at her.
"I'll let you know if I ever get turned on by killing." He replied.
"Is that a normal human response in this situation?" Castiel asked them.
"Apparently it's just a slayer response." She shrugged.
Castiel nodded. "I've never met another slayer before. So I will accept your response."
"Thanks, Big C." She grinned up at him. "I gotta say, you playing on the human side and helping gut demons is badass."
"I think Dean called it Team Free Will."
"Good name. I like it." She looked over at Dean who was helping a newly standing Bobby at the back of his van. She was happy he was walking again. From what she knew of the man, he deserved something good to come out of all this. Even if he had to make a deal with the smarmy Crowley.
"You still love him." Castiel said to her.
"Who wouldn't when they see those baby blues?" She replied.
"Don't humans usually tell each other thier feelings?"
She shrugged. "Humans are complicated."
"That's what I am learning. Humans make complications that are unnecessary. I don't understand sometimes."
"Me either, Big C. But that's just the way we roll."
"Humans do not roll. Wait, that is a figure of speech, right?"
Faith laughed. "Yeah. See. Your getting better at this. Before you know it you'll be drowning your sorrows like the rest of us."
---------------------------------------
"Detroit, huh?" Faith sat in the passenger seat of Bobby's van as they barreled down the highway behind the impala.
"Ever been?" Bobby asked her, his eyes never leaving the road.
"I might have passed through. I don't really remember."
She sighed in the ensuing silence.
"I get the feeling you don't like me."
She had to come right out and say it. There was enough awkwardness with Dean. She didn't need Bobby to hate her because of it. Especially with the possibility of losing her biggest supporter and friend when Sam took Lucy to hell with him. She needed all the friends she could get.
"Look, girl. It's not that I don't like ya. Your a tough cookie and I can respect that. I just know who ya are. You're back and that's great. But, Dean's like a son to me and he's been through enough. Some of that stems back to you. He hasn't fully forgiven you yet so neither will I."
"I only did what I thought was the right thing to do."
"Your preaching to the choir. But, what are you going to do about that, now?"
She sighed again. "I don't know what to do. When Sam showed up at my house, I thought I was so drunk I was hallucinating. I still feel like I'm in some strange dream."
Bobby said nothing just glanced at her.
"Plus, I know about Lisa and Ben. I don't know if I hold any sway over them. That's a lot to compete with. I'm not really the type to fight over a man."
"Oh, hell. He told you about Lisa?" Bobby asked incredulously.
She nodded. "It's five by five. I just want him to be happy. If that's not with me, then it is what it is."
She continued. "There was this vampire, Angel..."
"You knew a vampire named Angel? That's balls to wall crazy right there."
"Yes. He was good, mostly. Anyways, I was pretty psychotic back then. Did a lot of awful things. But he was the only person who thought I was worth saving. I asked him to kill me because I couldn't come to terms with who I had become. He told me that life was worth living. Even the bad parts."
"Sounds like the only vampire to have his head screwed on right."
She nodded. "It's the only reason I'm here today. I'm not proud of the things I've done but I was given these powers for a reason and I wallowed in my self pity long enough. I want to so something good, Bobby. I dont want to only be remembered for the bad I did. That's what Sam made me realize when we talked."
"That's a nice sentiment. What kind of powers are we talking about exactly?" Bobby asked her.
"Slayers are basically like baby superheroes. Super speed, strength, we heal faster than others, sometimes we have visions. But, this witch in California cast a spell to awaken all the potential slayers so I basically went into retirement. There's hundreds now. Maybe thousands. They don't need me anymore."
"Why haven't you mentioned this before. Your like some sort of secret weapon."
"The boys knew. I thought they told you." She shrugged nonchalantly.
"Those boys wouldn't know a good thing if it was wrapped in neon and slapped em in the face."
