Chapter two
I ran out of the shower, grabbing my towel to hide under just as Anabelle and Melanie came bounding into the bathroom.
"What's wrong?! What is it?! Is there a cockroach!?" they both yelled, jumbled together and nearly unidentifiable. I could hear the same thing coming from the shower.
"What the fuck guys?! Don't tell me you bloody screamed because you saw a cockroach!" and a "You made me run into a wall! And you sound like a girl!"
Wait. I recognized one of the voices.
"N-Nate!?" Moving forward, I pulled back the shower curtain to reveal Nate's head peering through the strange hole. He instantly blushed.
"Uhm, Daine, clothes."
Crap, I forgot. I quickly grabbed my PJ's and ran out of the bathroom to change. My mind was reeling. How the hell did I see a number of different guys peep through a massive hole in the wall that was not previously there? And who the hell was that dickhead who stared longer than necessary? And shit, Cameron saw me. Talk about awkward. I just flashed a man who I've only just met!
Changed, I returned to the bathroom to find it empty. I walked around a little while, as if hoping my friends were hidden in some corner of the room before remembering they could have entered that strange hole. It was big enough to be a door. I walked over to the shower and saw the familiar outline of the hole. Taking a chance, I stepped through and walked a few steps before finding myself in another bathroom. Exiting, I found not only Anabelle and Melanie, but also Nate, Lance, Cameron and the mysterious man. No longer being naked, I scanned the mysterious man quickly, letting out an internal whistle. He had messy, feathery blonde hair that was kept a short length, just dusting his ears. His eyes were hazel, with hints of gold in them that were greatly enhanced by his lashes. He was also taller than my brother, but only by the smallest bit, shorter than the other two boys. Not only that, but he possibly had the best bone structure I had ever seen. High cheekbones, straight nose, strong jaw. Once again, I began to curse my lack of beautiful bones.
Everyone was chattering away, the man noticing me first. He smirked while I blushed a deep red and glared right back at him. Dick. Lance soon noticed as well and waved me over.
"Daine! Guess what we just found out! It's so cool! Minusing the recent incident..." Melanie seemed to almost radiate excitement. Meanwhile, Cameron turned scarlet.
"Sorry Daine, I wasn't meant to do that. Honest." He nervously twisted his hands, avoiding my eyes.
I rolled my eyes and tried to act normal. "Apology accepted. But could you please at least explain what the hell was going on?"
I could see Cameron relax visably as he looked up. "Well, Jace called me over just as he was about to take a shower to check something out." He glanced over at the young blonde haired boy - whose name I now knew to be Jace - hoping he would take the lead instead.
Jace's voice was like golden honey, sweet and addictive. "I noticed that the wall had a strange surface, because a number of the tiles seemed to be slightly pushed in. So I called Cam over to check it out, and then we figured that maybe it was a trap door to some hidden room. But obviously it wasn't since we found ourselves in front of... a girl showering." He smirked while I glared, my face unable to turn any shades darker. Nate put a protective arm around my shoulder and cleared his throat.
"The theory we've got is that it was a secret passage which servants had used in the olden days. It's no secret that this building functioned as a house once in the early 1900's, the first principle of the school being the owner of this place. And so servents had easier access to the.. masters I guess you could call them."
