After seeing so much misunderstanding and misinformation about how pregnancy happens, on Wattpad and off, I decided to write this little guide about pregnancy and the female reproductive system.

This article is rated PG13 because I know that some parents don't want their kids reading about this topic, or they want to be the first to talk to their kids about periods and fertility. However, I think that knowing basic human biology is a good thing for all girls and women, as well as the boys and men they love and live with. And if you are going to use pregnancy as a plot device, it's worth a knowing a bit about the process.

So why am I qualified to write this guide? I am a woman. I have been pregnant three times. I have struggled with infertility and done a lot of research on this topic. I also have a 4-year biology degree. I am not a doctor or an expert, but I believe that the information here is accurate. Please leave a comment or PM me if you have any questions, or if you think something is incorrect.

TL;DR

1. A woman doesn't become pregnant the minute she has sex.

2. A woman has no pregnancy symptoms for at least a week after Doing The Deed.

3. Pregnancy symptoms vary widely from woman to woman.

4. Not all women dream of becoming pregnant.
