"Mama, will you tell me what my dad's like?"
"Sweetie, later. Its a school night."
"Night mama."
"Night Gabby."

"You won't believe what Gabby asked me yesterday!"
"Tell me!"
"She was asking about her dad!"
"I told this day would come. Kaylie, you really should have told Stephan. Little Gabby probably wonders why she doesn't have a daddy like the other kids!"
"Stephan clearly stated that he was not a man of commitment! I don't want Gabby to ever feel what I felt the day he left cause even if I told him, Stephan would have left anyway."

"But you don't know that! I still think you should tell him." Her face went suddenly pale as she stared behind me. "And I don't think you have time to think it through! He's here!"

I slowly turned and was completely stunned as I saw Stephan's relaxed face sited at a table directly opposite to where we were standing. Kyla owned a small hotel and I worked there. I had never told Stephan so I was pretty sure he wasn't here for me. I slowly retreated to the kitchen hoping he hadn't seen me but you know Karma, she always has a way in things.

"Kyla, why hello there. I didn't know you worked here!" I heard him address Ky and started wishing I had pulled her with me to the kitchen. Don't get me wrong, I seriously love my best friend and I know she wouldn't ever betray me on purpose . But then she has this thing where if she starts talking she wouldn't stop. He would have her singing like a canary. I had to get out of here before it was too late. I quickly scribbled a note to Kyla telling her I had to rush out and then I left via the backdoor and through the alley way. And that's when I got into contact with a wall of muscles.

I knew that was the end for me and all I could think about was Gabby. The alley way was known to be particularly not very safe. But as I looked up I knew this was worse than getting my purse snatched. Looking into those blue eyes I knew he could see right through me. He looked just like he had five years ago. I had wished he grow a beer pot, disgusting moustache and be like over two hundred kilograms  but no! He was just as perfect as the first day I had met him. But the saddest thing of all was the attraction I still felt for him.

"We meet again Kaylie. How've you been doing?" He asked me giving me his signature heart melting smile.
"I have somewhere to be Mr. Huerta. So if you'll excuse me-" Well technically it wasn't a lie. Gabby would be home in like... An hour and a half. I had to make her a snack although it was too early. I just needed to get away from him.
"Mr. Huerta? When did we become so formal Kaylie? We have a lot to talk about."
"No! I need to go!" I started to walk away but he grabbed my arm and spun me around to face him. He then grabbed my waist and held me close to him preventing my escape. I could feel how warm his body was and it sent a delicious shiver down my spine. I hated myself for that.
"Why didn't you take the cheque?"
"Because I didn't want to! I thought I made that clear in the note I left you"
"Explain!"
"I don't have time for this Stephan"

I tried to walk away from him again when he spoke up, "I miss you Kaylie, come back."
"Will you ever love me? Because that's all I ever wanted" He was quiet
"Thought so."
"Why is love so important to you! The chemistry we had... "
" Because I lacked so much of it growing up and now I just want a little bit!" The floodgates were now open and there was no stopping it. Curse my occasional mouth diarrhea "I've gotta go Stephan" I say wiping my tears
And then I walked away from him, like he had done to me. Feeling the healing wound reopen itself
