"Mama, look Simon's here."
"I see baby." She could also see him holding a paper that vaguely resembled an eviction notice and his sullen face told her it was just that.
"Hey uncle Simon! Did you come to play with me!"
"Of course Gabby, but first lemme talk to your mum." Said Simon with a light chuckle.
"I'll go get my new puzzle." Said an enthusiastic Gabby.

"Is that an eviction notice?" Asked Kaylie
"Yeah. He said you have two weeks. Kaylie, you know I'm here for you. I could loan you the money."
"I couldn't possibly do that to you Simon. You've been more than helpful already."
"But I want to help. You don't even have to pay me in cash. You could just spend a month like you did for that rich guy." Said Simon wiggling his eyebrows at her.

She could not believe what he had just said to her. As if with its own mind, her hand flew up and smacked him right across the face.

"Stop pretending Makayla. We all know what a whore you are. And soon that bastard child of yours will join you in the job so just give it to me. You know I could marry you and she'll have a father."
"Let go of me Simon you're drunk."
"Stop resisting Makayla! You know you want this!"
"Please Simon... You're hurting me!"
"Stop acting all innocent bitch!"

I was beyond terrified. Simon had never ever acted like this in all the five years I had known him. He was trying to kiss me and warm tears were slowly falling from my eyes.

"Let. Go. Of. Her." I had never been happier to hear that low rumble.
Simon turned to come face to face with Stephan.
"And who are you to tell me what to do?" Simon asked him trying to sound all macho but I heard the slight tremble in his voice. Stephan was taller and more built than Simon.
"A gentleman who respects her wishes. And I'd suggest you get going buddy."
"I'll be back Makayla." Simon told me before walking away.
Before I knew what I was doing I was in Stephan's arms letting out all that pent up fear.
"Shh, its okay. I'm here now."

"Mama?" Gabby asked with a trembling lip.
"Gabby! Its okay. Mama's okay."
"Where'd Simon go?"
"He had to leave sweetheart. But I'll play with you."
"Who's he? Is he why you're crying?"
"No... He's... He's my... Uhm... "
"Friend. I'm her friend." Stephan interfered before I chewed on any more words. When Gabby looked up into his eyes I felt Stephan freeze and I realized he also noticed the likeness.

He looked questioningly into my eyes and I had to avert my gaze.
"Makayla?" He asked with a low growl and I just couldn't face him.
"Mama, can your friend stay for dinner?"
"Baby, I think he's very-"
"I'd love to."
And then I knew I was damned.
The secret I had struggled to keep for five years was finally out.
The hearts I had protected for five years were finally out of my jurisdiction. Stephan looked at me accusingly. Those eyes that I had loved to stare into till I fell asleep looked at me with so much condemnation. The anger and pent up fury was clear as day in them. Oh hell, what did I get myself into!
