Why her???

For the rest of that day, Ruby didn't move a finger away from sapphire. Her eyes barley blinked without tears trying to escape her sockets.

The next morning Keith woke up first, he still saw Ruby in that same position. "Don't gems... g-get tired?" Keith questioned slowly walking closer to the kitchen.

"We gems don'T need any, especially when we're angry or frightened," Ruby sighed.

"You want anything?" Keith awkwardly questioned pouring himself a cup of OJ. 

"Not hungry..." Ruby whispered grabbing Sapphire's wrist and gripping it tightly.

"Please wake up, we need to be Garnet so we can stay strong..." Ruby mumbled in her ear with tears finally escaping her eyes and tracing down her cheeks.

Keith sighed softly as he made his way to the heart ripped gem. "Look... I'm not good with... s-stuff like this, but... She's gonna make it. I pro-"

"HOW CAN SAY THAT! WHEN SHE'S UNCONSCIOUS? WHALE THE DIAMONDS ARE OUT THERE WITH 2 NEW SICKOS ADDED TO THERE LIST?" Ruby interrupted him with all her rage and guilt smashed into one bigger mess.

 "Ruby, look. I loved somebody so much I  gave up Voltron so he could stay," Keith said awkwardly. 

"Stay?" Ruby question rubbing her tears away. 

"He was thinking of leaving..."Keith whispered. 

"What are you saying?" Ruby questioned confused looking back at the love of her life. 

"Well... once everything comes back to normal, it's worth it just to see them as you'd always remembered them," Keith tried to explain scratching the back of his neck roughly.

While he was looking away he felt small warm arms around his stomach. "O-o-okay now were hugging." But before he could wrap his arms around her, they heard the vivid sound of a soft moan.

"R-ruby," Sapphire whispered. Ruby dashed away from Keith and ran to turn to Sapphire. 

"SAPPHIRE! YOU'RE OKAY!" Ruby screamed hugging her tightly. 

"I-i'm fine... but you are squeezing me too tight..." Sapphire whimpered.

"OH! SORRY!" Ruby said loosening her grip and leaned her head back on the pillow. 

"What hap-" Before Sapphire finished her sentence, she remembered the nightmare fuel gem of the cluster. "Where did that monster of an aquamarine?" Sapphire demanded sitting up with her fist clenched. 

"She chickened out before we could strike her,"  Keith answered with his smile fading away. 

"She'll pay for what she's done!" Sapphire whispered with her rage burning through.

"And we will make her," Ruby replied placing her shoulder lightly on her lover's shoulder. "Peridot, Pidge, and Alya are trying a find a way to work one of the ships the soldiers left behind." She said wrapping her other arm around Sapphire's back. 

"Yeah... I think Pidge might be the only one still alive after 8 hours of no sleep." Keith butted in on there moment.

"What part of gems don't need sleep.... DID YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?" Ruby asked sarcastically with and eyebrow pointing upward while Sapphire let out a small chuckle under her breath.

After awhile, the others started to wake up. Once everyone had breakfast, Tikki, Lapis, Sapphire, Adrien and Keith made their way to the ship. Once they entered, they saw Peridot resting, possibly dead, on Alya's stomach while Pidge's eyes were wide open with coffee cups in a small circle surrounding her. 

"Pidge... Are you okay?" Keith asked, somewhat worried if she went into a world of coffee madness. As Kieth waited for an answer, Sapphire and Tikki woke up, as did Peridot and Alya while Adrien and Lapis backed away due to the amount of coffee surrounding little Pidge. 

"I-it's... ajbjkbfhdbobg!" Pidge screamed with eyes twitching and bangs everywhere. 

The amount of bags under her eyes even made Keith back away in fear. "*clears throat* Okay, Katie... How about we go inside.. you get some sleep and wake up once you can speak English again... that sound good?" Keith asked slowly moving closer to twitchy Pidge; putting his hand out to get her out of the coffee apocalypse she was trapped in.

She slowly reached her earthquake shaking hand to Keith's hand, once she touched it though she somehow immediately collapsed. Keith without thinking grabbed shoulder and picked her up bridal style. 

"How about we clean up?" Lapis offered as Adrien nodded with agreement. 

"Thanks," Keith said before carrying nearly dead Pidge back to the house withSapphire talking to Peridot and Alya.

Once Pidge woke up, the four eyes squad could explain the controls of the ship. "So its quite simple actually, a specific gem like an Amethyst, Pearl, or Ruby can program on these bad boys." Alya explained pointing to the gems the ship needed to get control.

"But first, there was a special code, so we tried to hack it. And well... Me and Alya dozed off..." Peridot trailed off. 

"So I  had to hack the system myself, an due to my... ocean of coffee, you can see I worked very hard and late." Pidge continued adjusting her glasses with one hand and rubbing her neck with the other. "BUT  I finally got it right before Keith and some others came in the ship." Pidge finished up turning on the computer. 

"So everyone pack up, we made a list for which ship everyone will be in, and who the pilots are." Alya said showing a flash of the list. 

Once everyone got ready they got on the ships the list said. Ruby's crew was Shiro, Lapis, Trixx, Alya, Sapphire, Lion and Nino. Pearl's crew was Steven, Keith, Tikki, Marinette, Hunk, Peridot, Adrien and Plagg. FINALLY, Amethyst's Crew was Chloe, Pollen, Lance, Allura, Coran, Pidge, Wayzz and Connie.

"Everybody ready?" Pidge asked every ship.

"READY!" Every pilot of the ships screamed.   

"Then let's go!" Pidge screamed. Right away they all started their ships and took off into space.
