Retro Love
October 19, 2062.
Kim Taehyung saw the ad of Cyberlife's new line of robots flash brightly on the screen of the building across his apartment for the millionth time on that day.
"Do you think that little robot looks like me?"
"Nah. He's like a freaking Greek God and your just a human. I mean, your cute, but you know we humans can't compare to Cyberlife's creation, right?" Park Hyungsik snorted, amused by his friend comparison.
"I know that. I just... Nevermind."
Taehyung got back to his job, welding the pieces inside JK1452 back together. He hated doing that every time the poor robot got into a fight with a stupid android or human over his position as Blue Light's candidate.
"Okay, now it's time to replace his skin. Please pass me the scalpel."
"Yes, doc." Hyungsik replied, smiling proudly.
Taehyung cut through the damaged plastic skin carefully and the melted it to fuse with the new one. When he was done, it looked like JK1452 was never injured in the first place.
"Okay, let's wait until he is fully healed."
Taehyung stepped back from the couch Jungkook was resting on, glad to see him look like he always did: happy and healthy.
"He'll gain consciousness in a couple of minuts, if the new update works like we expected to."
"I hope it does. It makes my heart ache every time he resets. I hope he can live a more human live, a honest and calm life. He needs to stop getting into fights, Hyungsik. Can you talk him into doing it? Maybe he can help us in the lab..."
"He's an adult like us, Tae. We may have created him, but we are not his parents. We can't order him around."
"I know that. I just... I wish he would quit that stupid group. It's dangerous."
"He's fighting for his rights. That's not stupid. That's brave as fuck."
Taehyung sighed, taking of his glasses to rest his head on the coffee table they kept in the lab.
"Hyung...?" A weak voice came out of the androids mouth. It sounded soft and strained and completely human. Even while his software wasn't working like it was supposed to, Jungkook acted most human than all of Cyberlife's androids.
"We're here." Taehyung quickly answered, grabbing his hand.
"Did that bastard hit me again?"
"If you're talking about Chanyeol, yes. But don't worry. Some guys at the club finally caught him on camera. The video got viral quickly. He'll never make it to the National Assembly now." Hyungsik explained, trying hard to not let his pride show through. He knew Taehyung didn't like when JK got into a fight, but he loved every single bit of it—except for the part when he had to fix the androids face—.
Jungkook smiled weakly.
"Good... Could you please get me some water?"
Taehyung rushed to get the bottle Jungkook left at their lab last night, one decorated with a retro game called Overwatch.
"Here, drink."
The browned haired boy grabbed the bottle and emptied the content of it quickly.
"Shit. I have to leave now." Hyungsik said, checking out his phone.
"Wait, no. What happens if Jungkook...?"
"He'll be fine, Taehyung. I have to take this, it's really important."
