As they reached the door, she found it open. Josie wasn't home, so she became worried. Ollie grasped her hand, explaining that her dad probably just got home. She winced, not in pain but in fear. She was always afraid of burglars. Hating the thought of being murdered. Ollie was just as scared, but e had to be strong. He led her inside the house. Checking around every corner, they walked quietly through the house. Lacey reached the counter, seeing the home phone. She wasn't allowed to have a mobile because Josie didn't trust her enough. Reaching for it, she heard a creak. Coming straight from the living room. The tv was on, playing some reality show. On the blue couch in front, Ollie could swear he saw a pair of feet. Wrapped in black tennis shoes. He quietly walked up, facing the back of the couch, and got a better look. Lacey saw Ollie pull a strange face; fear, sadness, wonder, and worry. He suddenly pointed towards the door, mouthing Lacey to go.
"I'm not gonna leave you" Lacey whispered.
There was a jerk, and Ollie started running. He was quickly caught, Lacey couldn't see why. He just looked like he was jogging in place.
"Go! Go! Or else you're gonna get caught!"Ollie yelled with the loudest voice he possibly could!
At this point she was ready to run, checking back one more time to see that Ollie was okay. Looking backwards at the living room, she saw someone else stand. Still holding back Ollie,+3
was what seemed to be a man. Wearing a black hoodie, black shoes, and joggers. She looked up to see their face, but it was covered by a mask. A vampire looking thing. Pale white with black eyes and blood running out of it's red teeth. Mouth shut and eyes pointed out, as if it was staring. Ollie was being held back, not by the person, but a knife sticking into the couch. It was the one from the barbeque, she'd only seen it once or twice, Her hands went over her mouth in terror. She stood crooked, frozen in terror. Not being able to move, she figured out that she was having a panic attack. Lacey had only had one once before, the day her parents left. It came into her brain, but she didn't have time to think about that now, she had to help Ollie.
Lacey ran for the front knife block, seeing that it wasn't even touched. She grabbed the largest chef knife she saw, and sprinted towards the couch. Not even knowing what she was doing, she stopped running and quickly cut Ollie loose. The masked person had stepped back for fear of getting stabbed. Ollie was in shock, so Lacey had to pull him away from the couch. His brain kicked in and he started to run as fast as he could. Knowing the closest place where they would be safe, he squeezed her hand tight and basically dragged her down the street. She fell down halfway down the road and nearly ripped her pants from sliding on her knees. After they hit the sidewalk she got back up and ran with Ollie.
They approached the school, slowing down to look like the rest of the students. Homecoming was just starting, and people were waiting in line. They jumped in, trying to blend with the rest of the students. Lacey was still wearing her baggy clothes and converse, so she looked out of place with everyone else. Ollie was just always wearing nice pants and a flannel, so he looked completely normal. Lacey squirmed, still in shock from the encounter. They both were constantly turning their heads, waiting for the masked man to reappear. As they got inside, they became squished and tried to find a place where they could talk. Ollie looked over and saw the janitors closet. The janitor wasn't going to be back until tomorrow morning, so he pulled her inside. Lacey shut the door, and for a moment there was silence.
After twenty seconds of pure silence, Lacey just screamed. Not loudly, she didn't want to call attention to them. Just a small crying scream, like she was trying to take it all in. Ollie hugged her, covering her mouth so nobody could hear her whines.
"Why would somebody do this?!" Lacey said in tears.
"I don't know, but we have to tell the school. Most of the staff are gone, or at the hospital. After the principal's death, nobody wants to be here. Except us apparently."
"How are people so okay with this?! People have died, one of murdered! And they are able to go to this dance, and party. Somebody just tried to kill you Ollie!"
It sunk in for her, and Lacey's brain was exploding. She grabbed the sides of her head, and leaning against the nearest wall.
"Who is doing this!" She yelled, not caring anymore. But nobody seemed to hear. Ollie noticed that nobody had taken an interest in her scream, and he realized, the music had stopped.
"Shh, Lacey. Listen. There's no music, we have to go"
Lacey stopped crying and nodded, trying her hardest to be strong. Ollie grabbed the doorknob and looked outside. Just opening it a crack. There was a gathering of staff in a circle. On one the phone, on woman crying, and so many blank faces. Ollie approached, seeing that there was no danger.
"What happened?" Ollie turned to a ,am in front of him.
"How are you kids still her? They called everybody home." His face turned stern, realizing that he hadn't answered their question.
"They found vice principal Mack under the bleachers."
Their faces went cold. Lacey couldn't do it anymore she fell into her lap, and wept once again. Everyone starred, but she didn't care. All she could do was cry. Ollie hugged her, and made sure to hold her hand, but he had to tell the staff.
"There was someone, at Lacey's house. We ran here to get away. They were trying to kill us. I think it's the same person who killed the principal, and maybe even Mack."
It clicked in Ollie's head. He thought that if it was the same person, then, they're here.
"You all have to leave now! If it's the same person, then they're here right now"
Panic grew on everyone's face. All the staff ran towards the exits. No longer caring about the body. The man grabbed Lacey, pulled her up, and led them both back to the his car. He opened the passenger and back doors. Letting them inside. Ollie went into the front, letting lacey lie down. As the man walked around to his door, they saw a back door open from the school. Ollie feared it, knowing there was only one person left in the building. The man was still near Ollie's door.
"Run! Run!"
