Sawyer and I walked into the school with all eyes on us. That's when we were swarmed by Jude and Davis.

"Hey, guys!" They grinned.

"Hey!" We smiled back.

"What are you two doing here?" Jude asked.

"We decided to start early. You know, what the heck?" I laughed.

"Why would you ever want to come to school early?" Lydia questioned walking over to us.

"Because it's where you guys were at and we wanted to get the first day over with." Sawyer responded.

"I get it. So, did you go see the new place your parents are renting?" Davis asked.

"Yeah. It's amazing! And they gave Sawyer and I Moms old car." I laughed.

"No way!" Jude gasped.

"Yeah! You like cars?" I asked.

"Duh! I love cars. Davis and I both play basketball, but I also work on cars. Lydia just cheers us on." Jude explained.

"That sounds fun." I smiled.

"It really is. There is a game tonight. You should come." Jude smiled.

"I would really..." I started.

"Like to go, but she can't. We have to unpack." Sawyer interrupted.

I shot her a glare as she glared right back.

"Oh, yeah. Of course. No big. Always more games." Jude nodded.

"How about you? What are your guys' hobbies?" Davis asked.

"I play basketball and paint." I smiled.

"I write and paint and watch basketball from the sidelines. I have the same heart condition as Dad." Sawyer explained.

"Oh. That explains a little." Lydia mumbled.

"What does that mean?" She growled.

"Nothing. Nothing... Just..." Lydia tried to explain, but then I saw Sawyers face go pale.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I... I have to go. This was a mistake." She growled then she ran. I started to follow and she shook her head. "Just... Stay here. I'll pick you up when you get out of school."

I stared at her in confusion and then back at the group.

"Ok then, who are the cool people to hang out with?" I asked and they all started showing me around to their friends.
