I smiled, and flung myself down right next the perfume. "Soo..." I started, trying to get a conversation going. "Soo.. much perfume!" Alex gagged. Nina stuck her tongue out at him before proceeding to sit down next to me.

I'd always loved Nina's room. Her walls were a lilac color and it was pretty big. Her lamp wasn't on right now, but the way the sunlight streamed in through green curtains provided enough light on its own.

"What's this?" Alex asked in a devious tone. I turned around to see that he had Nina's journal. Uh-oh. "Nina." I hissed, nudging my friend in the side to get her attention. "Ow! What was that for?" she said. I nodded my head in Alex's direction, who now had the journal open to the second page.

"What are you doing?" Nina screeched, jumping up from the beanbag and hitting me with her knee.

Nina ripped it from his hands before he got past that page. "Idiot." she mumbled, throwing her journal into her underwear drawer.

"Hey!" Alex protested, but didn't bother trying to retrieve the journal. "Yeah?" Nina asked, acting as if nothing had happened.

"I'm hungry." I interrupted. "Go make something." Nina said. "Can you come down with me?" I pleaded. She let out a dramatic sigh, "Fine." she huffed, stretching out the word.

"I'm hungry too." Alex said. "Well then come on." I called over my shoulder as I followed Nina into the hallway.

I stared into the cupboard, trying to decide whether or not I wanted pretzels or popcorn. "Nina," I whined, "Which one of these should I have?" She frowned, "Why don't you eat a sandwich or something?"

"Wait guys, do you hear that?" Alex said, making us fall silent. I heard a tiny hammering noise and followed the sound to pinpoint where it was coming from.

"I don't hear anything." Nina said. I could hardly hear it, but I noticed the noise was coming from the glass sliding doors.

I saw that it was a fairy. She had bright orange wings and hair that matched. Her clothes were purple and looked as if they were formed from flower petals.

When my eyes reached her face, I saw that she looked scared. "It's a fairy." I informed them before opening the door a crack. The fairy came in without hesitation.

"I need your help." she shrieked, motioning to all of us. "What's she saying?" Nina asked. After I got over the shock of having the fairy talk to me in English, I told Nina what the fairy'd said.

"Your friend can't hear me?" Alex shook his head. "But you two can?" I nodded and the fairy flew over to Nina.

"Do you think she'd mind if I allowed her to see me?" The question took me by surprise, "Permanently?" I spluttered. The fairy sadly shook her head no. I told her that she wouldn't and waited for Nina's reaction. I hadn't filled her in on what was about to happen.

The fairy flew out the door to go get something and I forced myself to not do anything that would give the little surprise away.

The fairy returned a few minutes later with flowers like the ones that matched her dress and some type of liquid in a bottle. "Hold this." she said, shoving the little bottle into my hands.

I watched as she carefully placed the purple flowers in Nina's hair. I silently laughed as Nina remained oblivious to what was really happening. I was just glad she wasn't moving.

The fairy held out her hand for the bottle and I handed it to her. She carefully placed a drop of the white liquid on each flower, causing them to shimmer.

I smiled as Nina's eyes widened. The fairy flew in front of her and Nina's mouth dropped slightly. "Can you see me now?" the fairy asked. Nina just nodded, still awestruck.

"So, why was it you came here?" Alex asked and the fairy's expression returned to the frightful one from before.

"I forgot about that. Well, how about you come with me and I'll show you?" she fairy asked, her voice in a whisper. I nodded, anxious to find out why the fairy was so panicky.

I grabbed the pretzels on the way out though...even a crisis wouldn't change the fact that I was still hungry.
