Lift Me High

Lift me, lift me up to see your face
show me the beauty in your shine

i want to grasp it, touch it. feel the sensation of you against my skin

your warmth and glow, mine to hold until i decree no longer.

as long as this story is told, your hand i will hold, and i will lift myself into your arms and above your expectations

i am, no icarus to love, but you, are my sun, and i catch myself flying into you with every passing second.

the world that divides us
the burning that i face
exhaustion in your grace
i wish to visit for just
a moment, something
so exquisite that
if i try
to soar up to the sky
to reach you
my skin will burn, glittering
falling
shining like
a star before entering
the blue night
shining as i sink
i think
"is it too far? too high?"
no, the right train
of thought is
"is the price too high?"

my wings catch fire as i soar
higher
up into the sun
i know the price
of my mortal shell
but
i
do not care,
for if i shed this body
i will be born anew
and be with my love
for eternity.
