We arrived at my grandparents door-step, about five minuets away from our house. Well, our old house.

I knocked on the door lightly. Almost imediately my Grandmother opened the door with a toothy smile.

"Hey Nanna" i greeted.

My mom came in behind me. There house was a big brick house, just a few blocks from his house. Wr settled in the living room. My Nanna and Mom started to chat up a storm. And then it hit me. Shit! I'm late! I tapped my moms shoulder as if she was porcelin figure. "Mum? I gotta go."

"Hunny, you know whrere thee washroom is, you've been around this house your whole life" She said with a Light laugh.

"No mum, i mean i have to leave. I'm supposed to meet a friend at the skatepark, if thats okay?" My mum nodded and let me go after the whole 'mom speech'. You know the one. All about saftey and shit. yada yada yada.

I grabbed my board and booked it for the skatepark.

It took me about 20 minuest to get there instead of the usual 5-10, from being at my Nanna's.

I looked at my phone as i stepped onto the farmiliar concrete of the park- 5:53pm.

"Shit!" I muttered to myself.

"You're late." She said from behind me. I turnned around quickly.

"I'm sorry, but she did it." I said with a proud smile on my lips.

"Who did what?" She asked puzzled.

"My mom. She left him. We're out of there!" i Said. Thats when it hit me. It's over. All those years. All the beatings. All the fights. It's finally over.

"Sooo...? You still wanna get back at him?" Lux asked, breaking my train of thought.

And for some reason, the only thing that left my mouth was "No."

She looked at me, completely dumbfounded. "why the hell not? Aren't you angry with him?"

"No" i started, "I'm relived. It's over. We made it out."

Silence filled the air between us until we both started to shuffle awkwardly. I got a random jolt of confadence. Grabbing Lux's hand, i pulled her twards the kiddy park. I sat on the swing, patting the one next to me. She picked up my signal and sat. We swang in a perfect rythm for a while, A comforatable silence now filling the air. She slowed her swing to a stop. I Slowe my swing aswell.

"So, what happened to you?" She asked, not looking at me.

I blew out a long breath of air, exchanging it for fresh breath in. "I didn't want to be that guy anymore. I didn't want to be the guy that got all the girls. It sounds rediculas i know, but i don't like it. I don't like the girls constantly throwing themselves at me." I finished, my eyes on the rocky ground.

"You're wierd. What guy dosen't like having whatever girl they want?'' I still didn't look up.

Finally i looked up at her, "I guess i just like what i can't have" and winked.

A rosey tint found it's way to her pale cheaks, along with a small smile.

"So..." i began, "Who are you and how do you know so much about me?"

"You really dont know who i am, do you?" She quizzed. Well duh, obviously not, otherwiser i wouldnt be asking I thought to myself.

Once she realized i really couldn't figure it out, she continued,

"You and all your stupid friends used to tease me and bully me. I came to your school in grade 5. I was never one of the popular kids. I never fit in. One of the girls in my friend circle had a huge crush on you and knew everthing about you. You remeber Mellisa Gauge,- "oh my god! Geeky glasses and braces Mellisa?" I butt in, quickly remembering the girl from grade 6. "Yeah, thats the very one. I bet you didn't even noticed." She said with a sigh.

"noticed what?" I asked confused. "She commited suicide that year, and nobody even noticed."

"wow..." Was all i could say.

"Do you remember that fat chick that always sat at the back of the classroom?" I could picture the girl, but couldn't think of the name.

"Yeah, i remeber her, but not her name." I stated.

"Well..." She paused and i looked up at her "That's me."

Her eyes seemed to scan mine. I was completely shocked. I stood up infront of her swing. I got down on my knees, taking her hands in mine " I am so so so sooooo so beyond sorry. Oh my goodness. I was imature nd self centured. See what i mean, i didn't want to be that guy! I promise you Lux, That guy is dead and gone." I begged for her forgiveness.

"you are forgiven" She smiled triumphantly, "Welcome to the darkside my friend." she winked and got up. Leaving me completely dumbfounded.

"I'M HOME!" I called out as i entered the door of my Nanna's house. It was about 8:00pm and i was exsaughsted. I took the stairs two at a time, eager to get to my bed. Once i reached my room (yeah, i have a room at my Nannas. It's acctually pretty big too.) I stripped down into my boxers and climbed under the covers, letting the darkness take over me.

I woke up to my Mum poking my sides. Laughter filled the air. It's been so long since we've laughed a real laugh. "I'm up! I'm up!" I surrendered, hopping off my bed. "Breakfast is in the kitchen waiting for you!" She called, leaving the room.

Once i was sure she wasgone, i flopped back on my bed. The thoughts of last night flooded my head. I can't belive Lux is the girl that my so called friends and I blullied. She was never an ugly girl. But now...just, wow. She's gorgeous. The rest of that night we just talked andlaughed. It felt good to have someone i could say whatever iwanted to and not have to worry about being judged. I felt so free just talking to her- "RIVER! GET DOWN HERE!" My mom called up to me. I groaned and got up, unplugging my phone from beside me on the floor. I clicked my home screen. Just some instagram notifacations and that was it. I sorta hoped that i'd have a text from Lux, but i don't even know what it would say; it's 7:15AM. I pulled a light blue tee from my bag and a pair of black skinny jeans. Sliping on my clothes i hobbled down the stairs, not quite awake yet.

"Morning." I yawned, sitting at the bar in the kitchen. My Nanna slid me a plate of chocolate chip pancakes. "Moning Sweetheart." She greeted with a smile. I gobbled down my pancakes and bid my goodbyes befor grabing my board and heading for school

. As I got into the door Lux was right at my side. She didn't speak, just walked next to me. It wasn't awkward or wierd. It was comforatable. I smilled down at her but she wasn't looking, intead she was texting away on her phone. Seconds later my phone vibrated in my pocket; 'Got in a fight with my mom last night. lots of yelling. lost my voice -L'

"No worries." I smiled down at her.

We walked to our lockers, grabbing our books and heading to out first class.

The lunch bell finally rang; it seemed like years had passed my classes dragged on forever.
I jumped out of my seat, excited to see Lux. She's so beautiful, I hate myself eternally for ever bullying her. She'll probably never like me because of it.

I walked into the caf, my eyes automatically scanning the area for Lux. I couldn't seem to find her. Where the hell is she!?
"HEY!"
"AHHHH!" I screamed and jump at least ten feet in the air from the sudden scare of the yelling and grab at my shoulders.

I turned to see none other than Lux, doubled over on the floor laughing.

"Think your so funny, eh?" I stepped in front of her, hands on my hips attempting to give off a disappointed look.
She straitened up, tears of laugher roles down her cheeks as she tried to hold back the beautiful sound that is her laughter.

I tapped my foot on the ground, "you know why this means, don't you?" I questioned.
