Seven years later…

I was sitting in my room I shared with 2 of my many foster brothers. I had stayed home from school this morning, I had one to many tacos the night before, so I got sick. The two that shared a room with me where Bernie, who is 11 and Ronnie, who is 15. Out of all of my brothers they where the nicest to me, that's why we all decided to share a room. We always had each others backs, whoever messed with Bernie dealt with me and Ronnie, so no one really messed with him, but I was a different story. It seemed no one ever left me alone, I am the only person like me at my school, and our small town too. I'm 5'11, extremely pale, really skinny, and I have long black hair that falls over my eyes, basically I look like any other emo kid. Ronnie is your typical kid, athletic, really tan and built like an ox. He isn't very smart but what he lacked in the brain he made up for with his looks, he is what any girl in our small town would call hot. Light blue eyes, light blonde hair, maybe 6'2 and a bright smile. Bernie is one of a kind. He believes you should wear a suit and dress pants to school everyday, so that's what makes up his wardrobe. He is really short, maybe 5'3. He has piercing green eyes and dark circles under his eyes. He's what any kid would call a nerd, having straight a's and reading a book anytime he has free time. I had just started hanging up my new Asking Alexandria poster alongside the 5 others i had bought earlier this summer, when Bernie walks in and plops down on his bed. " hey Alex, is that ANOTHER poster?" I looked over my shoulder at him, "yeah little bro, you should really listen to them, they get better each time you listen." I put the last tac in the poster and turned around and sat down on my bed to see Bernie squinting and sticking his tongue out. "No thanks man, I don't like the screaming stuff, to hardcore for me." I started laughing and managed to spit out, "and your rap about being all up in the club isn't to hardcore?" He buried his head in his hands. "Not all of them are about being up in the club, Alex." I smiled and stood up. " and not all of mine are screaming." I went to walk out of the room to get a bite to eat, and as I open the door I hear some of my other brothers laughing in a room across the hall, so I walked over and put my ear against the door. "I cant believe you took it Dave, if he ever finds out you took it, he'll kill you!" One of the boys snickered. "I'm not scared of the freak, all she does is wear weird clothes and listen to screaming oooh so scary." I burst in the door and looked at my two brothers Dave and Jim. "What do you have, Dave?" I looked at Dave with a deadly serious gaze, then suddenly Jim burst out. "H-He doesn't have your ipod, Alex, I-its not yours, honest!" Dave had started fidgeting around with his hands behind his back, probably holding my iPod. It had been missing for a couple days, but i thought I put it somewhere and forget where it was. "Gimme it, before I take it." I extended my hand to grab the iPod when he offered it. "W-What? I don't know what you're talking about Alex?" Dave was bigger than me but, I had proven in multiple occasions I could hold my own against him. I grabbed the collar of his shirt and pushed him up against the wall. "Give me my iPod" he started frantically looking around the room until I grabbed his throat and forced him to look at me. Now I was screaming. "GIVE MY MY IPOD!" He still didn't give it up. I got close to his ear and whispered, "give me the iPod now or I'll take it off of your body after I knock you unconscious. You have three seconds." I heard him gulp loudly. "One." I could hear him start breathing harder. "Two." Finally he took his hands from behind his back and handed me an iPod, but it wasn't mine. Who's could it be? They didn't call anyone else a freak. I'd have to find who it belonged to, or else I would feel guilty. I didn't realise I was still holding Dave's collar. "Who does this belong to?" He glanced towards his dresser and quickly looked back at me. "I-i don't know her name, I just know she's a freak… like you." I looked over to his dresser and threw him on the floor behind me and slowly walked toward it. "Don't! Its just my clothes!" The dresser had multiple papers on top of it, probably homework, a binder, and a few pencils, amidst the mess there was an upside down rubber band. I reached out to grab it and felt Dave's arms wrapping around my neck, putting me in a headlock. "Just leave it alone, Alex!" I elbowed Dave in the stomach and pushed backwards, with all of my strength, into his bed. He fell backwards onto his mattress and his grip loosened slightly. Now was my chance to break free, I grabbed his arm that was around my neck and pulled down on it and slipped my neck out of his tight hold. I stood up and turned toward him with my fists balled. "Get outta here, Dave. Im not in a good enough mood to hurt you today. He stood up and ran outside of his room, when he opened the door he ran right into Bernie. "Aaah!" they both tumbled on the floor. As soon as Dave realised what happened he stood up and ran again. I walked over to Bernie and offered a hand to help him up. "What where you doing Bernie?" He took my hand and stood up and brushed off his black dress pants. " I heard you and Dave yelling, and I wanted to know wat was happening. Sorry, Alex." He couldn't meet my gaze, he stared hard at the floor with a frown. " its alright man, I might have needed some backup if Jim had stayed!" I punched him in the shoulder and walked over to the dresser and picked up the black rubber band. It was broken into one piece, it was a straight tear so it was probably cut by something sharp. It had the letters "p!atd" on it in fancy white letters. It was simple. I like simple.
