My father paced the room as he frowned at the floor and you could see the amount of stress in his face. I was sat on my bed as I waited for him to give me another talk about leaving the town's borders. He looked up at me with a hardened face.

"Did you know those girls?" He asked me and I gave him a confused look.

"What girls?" I asked for my father wasn't making any sense.

"Last night two girls were killed by vampires. They went beyond the town's borders." His strict tone told me.

"What does that have to do with me?" I questioned my father as he paced. He sighed heavily, now standing by my window as he looked out.

"You always go into the forest with your friends. I don't want the same thing to happen to you." He sternly said but of course I had to disagree.

"Dad, you can't be serious. I am your daughter, pretty sure I can fend for myself." I huffed crossing my arms. He is the general of Winchester base, the best base in the human colonies.

"But, you're only nineteen! You haven't been in a real fight. How do I know that you could take down a vampire single handedly?" He snapped at me from the window. I scoffed and rolled my eyes, looking up to the ceiling and then back down at my father.

"You've taught me everything I know!" I yelled back getting really frustrated with him. He knows that I can take down a full grown man and I have had a lot of practice with defeating a vampire. My father has taught me for so many years on the weaknesses of vampires and how to kill them.

"But, that isn't good enough! I don't want to wake up the next day and find out that you are laying dead in a ditch somewhere!" His face was getting red due to raising his voice so much. I shook my head and crossed my feet over each other. My father can be such a kill switch at times, ever since my mother died. I snapped my head up and narrowed my eyes at him.

"This is all because of mom, isn't it? Just because a vampire killed her, you assume that one will kill me? Oh and since we are obviously talking about things that are bothering us, why are you forcing me to marry my best friend?" I growled. He is always like this, not letting me do things all because he despises vampires and he had arranged a marriage. I don't mind that it is my best friend, but I would much rather pick someone of my interest. My father took in a deep breath and hardened his eyes towards me.

"This has nothing to do with your mother. There's no need to bring her into this conversation. And that is how it has been for years!" He snapped, clearly not liking that fact that I mentioned her.

"I wouldn't have to if you weren't so overprotective! I know it's because she was killed by vampires!" I shouted, the anger raising by the second,

"That isn't true. You met mom outside of the base." My father scoffed, looking back out the window then back to me.

"It's not just that! You won't understand and you will never understand! And I don't care how many times you beg or get mad at me, I forbid you to ever set foot in that forest. And if you disobey me, you will live the rest of your life indoors. Am I clear?" He growled in a low voice, finally done with this conversation. Of course I wasn't done, but if I got my father pissed any more than he already is, I know that he would blow the roof.

"Yes." I muttered, my head facing the floor so I won't see his angry eyes. My father closed his lips tight and headed out of my room, slamming the door after him. He is always so uptight, but never this much. He knows how much I love to be in the forest and how restrained I feel when I am stuck inside or tied to the town borders. Shaking my head, I get up and walk over to the same window that my father loomed over minutes ago. Many happy villagers danced around the stone roads going from store to store. I smiled to myself when I saw my two best friends skipping down the road towards my house. They come over every day and we all go to the forest. Thinking quickly, I ran down the stairs.

"Where do you think you're going, young lady?" My father asked me. I turned back to look at him.

"Faye, Ronnie and I are going to go help out around town since we can't go to the forest." I lied through my teeth. I hate lying to him since we are so close, but he can't keep me from the forest. It's like my second home over there and it would hurt to never see it again due to his demands on forbidding it. He gave me an unsure glance, but quickly brushed it off with a nod of his head and I bounced out the door to my awaiting friends. I could still see the slight anger in his eyes,

"Hey girls! Listen," I put my arms around both their shoulders and pulled them along with me towards the forest, "My father forbid me to go into the forest, so we can't tell him i'm there." I said and Faye sighed.

"Ellie, why are you disobeying him again?" Faye asked me, her light brown eyes looking at me from the side.

"Because he isn't being fair like always." I rolled my eyes and continued to pull the girls with me.

"Well, if we get caught, I blame you." Ronnie said, pointing a finger and I smiled.

"Course!"
