Thank you to those who have taken the time to read all 41 chapters of this book :) I love you all so much! You have no idea how much I appreciate my readers!
BTW I suck at endings. Maybe I'll go back and edit that last chapter tons, but the gist will remain the same. Lily died and the world crashed because she messed with the power of the Amethyst to keep Cody alive. Then, some few centuries after, she makes a deal with a being named Believed to bring Cody back from the beyond.
Ah, the stupid things Lily does for love <3 but then again she is saving the human race so...
And thank you thank you thank you to those who have read my first version of this book and then went back to the drawing board with me to read it again :)
For those of you who haven't seen my first attempt at this series, in case you didn't get the sort of hint at the end, this series is an assortment of stories all companions to each other. As in, Lily told this one, but a different character (of a different place with a different story and different characters) will tell the next one. I'll give you a heads-up now: the main characters of these next few stories live in worlds strikingly different from each other. If the *difference in the genres doesn't sit well with you I suggest you stop now before I start getting into the good stuff ;) though, of course, I would absolutely love you if you stayed!
*difference in the genres - Remember how in this first book I mixed in Ryan, the wizard? Into a whole world of Protectors who were already mixed into a normal-seeming world? My plan for the next few stories in this series is to cross the boundaries between categories. Fantasy, adventure, romance, sci-fi, action and so on, mixing together into one huge hot mess.
They're basically different ways the world is recovering after Lily doomed the planet.
As in, the second book in this series takes place in a futuristic city floating in the sky. They call their rulers/leaders Kings and Queens out of spite, and they fight their wars in flying suits on hoverboards. It begins with a girl who wakes up in the city, having been beaten to a pulp, and she can't remember anything. Sci-fi. Her amnesia helps me introduce you to this new sci-fi pace, and it also stirs up some real drama later on ;)
The third book takes place in a jungle infested with animals evolved to prey on humans. The humans themselves (the men) travel in packs, like dogs, and fight their wars with knives, bows, and arrows. Adventure. The women, you shall see, are in no better position. But I can't tell you because the sexes are segregated, and the main character is a young male who has never met a girl before ;)
The fourth is told by an assassin... who also happens to be a cyborg. I may or may not also add Nathan's version of zombies, because why not. Sci-fi/Zombies. She leads a life as one of only two of her kind. And she, of course, starts to fall for a human she has to kill, who is training to hunt down and kill assassins AKA what she is. Meanwhile her best friend (the other cyborg of her kind who loves her, obviously) watches as she digs her own metaphorical grave. Which shall you ship?
The fifth is a love story of a boy and girl from feuding families. Ring a bell? Except they are families of wizards. As losers from a competition centuries ago, the girl's family is spending an eternity working for the winning family. She is content with her family's eternal service. Until she meets the dark and mysterious cousin of her masters. Does he really love her? or is she being used in order to find her family's inheritance: the last few mythical creatures living on the planet? Vampires, werewolves, faeries, mermaids, trolls... dragons, etc... Fantasy/Romance
And book six is going to be a hot mess of all of them put together.
In case you didn't already figure it out, the main character in each story is a part of Believed's huge plan to save the human species from extinction. They're the ones that the Believed chose, and their stories are how they were chosen to be heroes.
