A New Light

Chatper 1

First chapter of my book. My so excited you you guys to read it.
This will be a shorter chapter but my plan is for my other chapters to be longer. So bare with me and have fun reading.

I am a seventeen-year-old girl and by my Sophomore year of high school, I had become the captain of the cheer squad. With my small stature, I had to make sure that I didn't become a pushover. My voice was high but loud and I was quick. Most of the girls on my squad were taller than me but that didn't matter because they all listened to what I said. My first couple of weeks as captain most of the girls didn't obey what I said and would talk back to me. After running laps almost continuously for two weeks they all began to listen to my orders. Now in my senior year, I was the most well known and popular girl in the school. As a typical cheerleader and captain of the team, I was dating Theodore Green (he goes by Theo) who was the captain of the lacrosse team. To me, he is as tall as a tree but that is because I'm small, 4'11 to be exact and to other people, he is a normal height. I have amazing grades with an amazing life, you could almost say it's like a movie without the big plot twist.
    After a long day of practice, I had started to make my way back home. As I walked I had my airpods in listening to "In My Feelings" by Drake. I kept my eyes on the road ahead of me as a braided my thick blondish-white hair. I had at least three hair ties on my wrist which I needed to get off because it looked like it was stopping blood flow to the rest of my arm. It started to turn purple which I knew was bad because I actually paid attention in science class. I had 110% in science because it was my favorite subject but no one knew that. Once I started seeing nicely trimmed lawns and big houses I knew I had just gotten out of the bad part of town and into my part of town. I had turned onto my street and saw my dad pull out of the driveway. The loud roar of the black Corvette was enough to make me drop my glasses on the ground. I had bent down to find my glasses and once I did I continued to walk back home.
    I walked up to the door of my house and grabbed my keys from my bag. One unlocked I had to push the 9-foot door open with all my strength. I walked into the kitchen and set my bag down by the island making my way over to the refrigerator. The cold air hits my face as I grasp the doors in my palms. I stood there looking for something to eat for what felt like a year till I found what I wanted to eat. I grabbed the container with my salad as well as my phone and began walking to the couch to watch some tv before I did my homework. I grabbed the remote and clicked over to Netflix as I sat on the love chair. My dog jumped up on me which caused my hand to hit the remote. In all that commotion Stranger Things had been turned on and before I could change it my phone buzzes.
    'Hey me and Theo are going 2 the movies. Want 2 come? I can sit separately from you so you 2 can make out...😉' - Kayla
    'Ya can you pick me up then? My dad took my car into the shop and he just left for work.' - me
    'Ya. the movie starts at 6 so I'll pick you up in 30 minutes. Coo' - Kayla
'Ya I will be ready. Thank you!' - me
I shoved Oso off my lap and put my sailed away. I ran up the stairs to my room and begun getting ready for my "date." I sat looking for something to wear for a long time till I decided on white flowy t-shirt jean shorts and a flannel jacket. I put my hair up in a messy bun and put on a pair of dark red converse. I walked into my bathroom with Oso at my feet and begun putting makeup on. Once I was done I had five minutes to spare so I laid on my bed. Oso winned at the foot of the bed so I sat up and patted the bed to tell him it was ok to get up. Once he was up on the bed he laid by my said and let out a loud sigh. I grabbed my phone and got on Instagram. I was scrolling through everyone's feed when I got a text,
'I'm outside' -Kayla
    'Ok I will be down in a minute.' - me
    I shook my head because the least she could do was come to the door. I grabbed my phone and my keys which had my wallet attached at the end. I papped Oso and walked out. I locked the door and walked out to the street and saw a dark blue Ford Fusion sat across the street with Kayla driving and Theo in the passenger seat. I sighed and put on a fake smile as I walked to the car.
