Yugyeom jumped around the tall grass, a giggle escaping him when his father scooped him up into his arms. The child grinned, his eyes scrunching up at the movement. He heard his mother calling for the two from across the field, Yugyeom immediately squirming out of his fathers grip, and running off, with a playful shout,
"Last one to mom has to wash the dishes!"
He giggled as his father made a noise of disagreement but ran anyways, purposely letting Yugyeom win. Yugyeom looked at his mother who smiled widely, mirroring Yugyeom's. That was one thing Yugyeom wouldn't forget.
....
Yugyeom stood at the grave at 19 years of age, tears collecting in his eyes. He crouched, and placed a hand on the top of the grave, and let a soft whisper sound,
"It's been a year, mama... I can't believe you're gone.. I miss you. So does dad but he said he was going to remarry some rich lady to keep us with a good life... I hope she's as nice at you. If you were here, i hope she'd have been a friend than my step mother... I'll come visit tomorrow after the wedding, and i'll tell you all about it. And how my two step brothers are."
Yugyeom spoke softly, before standing up and walking away after adjusting the little toy stuffed animal he left at her grave. It was the stuffed animal she had given him.
.....
"Yugyeom!! Come clean this kitchen right now!!"
Yugyeom groaned when he heard his step mothers voice shouting. He put his book away, and rushed downstairs soon enough, dodging the feet of his two step brothers. He learned to jump everytime they tried to trip him. And learned when to jump. He let a sigh out, and gathered all the supplies from the closet, and everything as his step mother rushed off now,
"Now, make sure to have this house spotless or else! Me and your brothers ars going to go shopping. We have to get new clothing for the party King Wang is throwing so his son can find his true love."
Yugyeom perked up, and spoke hopefully,
"Can i go if i get the house done quickly?"
"Only if you get it done right."
His step mother growled, and ushered her two sons out of the house, leaving Yugyeom alone in the giant house. Yugyeom beamed, immediately setting to cleaning, scrubbing everything that had to be scrubbed, sweeping the floors. He washed the dishes, and soon set to the living room, making his way into the halls and upstairs. Don't misunderstand, he hates cleaning. But he was forced to in this house.
His step-mother would always threaten to tell his father he had been bad, when Yugyeom was used to always being good and deemed as an angel in his fathers eyes. So he obeyed, and cleaned. So by the time his step mother stepped inside a few hours later, with her sons, she found the house spotless, and squeaky clean.
She looked to see Yugyeom ready already in a suit, since he had to get ready before them knowing they'd need his help. She squinted, before just moving,
"Alright.. come help us get ready.''
Yugyeom nodded, and scurried upstairs after grabbing their bags for them. He had helped his brothers into their suits, tying their ties, and tying their shoes. He had helped his step mother with her hair and make-up soon enough, eyes having been bright with excitement. Though all that shattered when he was shoved roughly into his room in the attic, his step mother glaring down at him. Words left her lips, as if acid was burning on his skin,
"You're not going to that party.''
With that, she slammed the door shut, and locked it from the outside. Her footsteps echoed away, leaving Yugyeom with shattered hope, and a frustrated soul.
