A safe place

Donnie's POV

I watched as Leo did his best to try and calm the girl down. I saw that she was holding her ribs very tightly as she took three big steps away from Leo. She backed into a wall as terror seemed to take control of her body and she began to shake uncontrollably. Filled with worry I slowly walked up to Leo so I didn't scare her anymore than she already was. Leo looked over his shoulder at me. He obviously saw that I was worried, and turned around and walked away. Mikey and Raph did the same. Raph closed the door behind him leaving me and the girl alone in my lab. I never took my eyes off of the girl who watched my brothers leave. I cleared my throat to get her attention. It worked because her head jerked in my direction and we made eye contact.

"Are you alright miss?" was all I could say. I mean, what else would I say? She looked down at the ground and nodded.

"Well, okay then. Is it all right if I check your injuries?" She looked at me with a shocked expression.

"I-I guess." The girl said this and looked down again. I slowly started to walk up to her. I walked up to her as if she were timid a kitten that was abused then abandoned. When I was close enough I got down on one knee and lifted her chin up as gently as I could with my hand. She looked at me once again with shock, but not because I lifted her chin but because I did it gently. I gave her a warm smile and pulled her into a light hug so I didn't hurt her. She tensed up for a second but stopped due to the pain. I could tell she was in pain because I heard a very small and very quiet gasp escape her. It was so quiet that I barely heard it.

"Its alright, no one is going to hurt you here. Here you are safe, and here you can heal." I whispered in her ear. I was shocked not only by my words but also by all my actions. She seemed shocked as well. I guess no one has treated her in such a kind manner in a long time or maybe even ever. The thought of someone doing this to their own child made me sick to my stomach.

(Y/n) POV

I was completely surprised and caught off guard by his actions and words. And for the first time in years I actually felt safe. I couldn't help but smile a little.

"Thank you." I was only able to whisper and it was very quiet. I didn't even know if he had heard me or not. I felt his plastron vibrate when he chuckled a little bit.

"Your welcome." His whisper was a little louder than mine but it was gentle. I could tell that he was patient. He let go of me and looked into my (e/c) eyes. He gave me another warm and small smile. He then picked me up bridal style and carefully laid me down on the table. Now both of my arms are covering my ribs, and everything hurt. But because of all the pain I endured for years my pain tolerance was pretty high, so it was tolerable. To be honest I wasn't all that surprised when my dad started kicking me around. And this isn't the first time he has broken my ribs or my arm, my leg, nothing was new. I watched as the purple masked turtle left the room only to come back seconds later with a glass of water. He put the water down on the table as he walked over to where a bunch of medications were. He grabbed a bottle, read it, and put it back down. He repeated the process three more times before opening a bottle and got a pill.

Donnie's POV

I finally found the pain killers and got one out of the bottle. I closed the cap and put the bottle back in its place. I walk over to my desk and grab the cup of water. She is most likely dehydrated and needs something to drink. I reach the table and set the cup of water and the pain killers down on a smaller table that was in reach. After that I carefully help her sit up. I watched helplessly as she winced in pain. After that I reached over and grabbed the cup of water and the painkiller. I held them out to her.

"Here, I got you some water and a painkiller. If you need any more just let me know, okay?" She answered me with a small smile and nodded. She grabbed the painkiller from my hand and looked at it for a second, then just swallowed it dry! I blinked a few times in surprise, after all I was not expecting her to do that! I was still holding the glass of water in my hand waiting for her to take. Ten seconds later after she took the painkiller she slowly took the glass of water from me and chugged it down in three gulps. I held out my hand with a smile on my face. At first she looked confused but then realized I wanted the cup. She gave me a weak smile and handed it to me. I nodded slightly as a thank you and walked out of the lab. I quickly washed the cup, dried it and put it away. As I was heading back into the lab to continue patching her up, Leo stepped in the way.

"Hey, is she alright." His arms were at his sides with a worried expression on his face.

"Yeah, she's doing better. She let me carry her to the table, and I gave her some water and painkillers." That's when Raph walked next to Leo.

"Sooo, did you find out what her name was?" I stood there feeling like an idiot.

"Ummmm... No?" I said it more like a question than an answer.

"DUDE!!! YOU FORGOT TO ASK WHAT HER NAME WAS??!!" Mikey yelled from behind me. I swear I jumper right out of my shell!

"AAAAHHHHHHH!" I then fell to the floor and landed on my butt.

"Well, you got what you deserved man." Raph said looking down at me holding his hand out. I grab it as he pulls me up.

"Hey, what about we all go in there and introduce ourselves... That is if she's ready to see us again." Leo said crossing his arms.

"I'll go and ask her if its alright. If she says yes, can one of you go and get Master Splinter?" I asked, walking backwards towards my lab. Leo nods as I open my lad door and peek inside.

(Y/n) POV

I heard the door open. I looked over to see the turtle with the purple mask peek his head in.

"Hey, miss? Is it alright if my brothers and sensei come in to introduce ourselves properly?" I looked at him slightly confused. I thought for a moment and decided it was only fair. I mean after all they did help me get away from my dad... At least for now.

"Sure, I-I guess... If they want to." I said in my normal voice while shrugging. I was glad that I was finally able to find my voice again. The turtle nodded his head and left the room yet again.

Donnie's POV

I walked out and looked at my brothers, and behind them Master Splinter stood quietly. A few minutes ago he had called me to the dojo. I thought I was in trouble but I wasn't and that was a plus. I nodded my head and led the way into my lab with the others following quickly behind.
