I can't stand it when you touch me like that
'Cause it just reminds me of the nights that I spent
Telling myself it was fine
But now I'm over that
I think it's better if we just pretend

Virgil sighed as he looked at Roman. He loved him, he was sure of it, but when it came to seeing him, he didn't want to.

Roman reached out and cupped his cheek, leading him closer to him. "Can I kiss you?"

"I... Is it really a good idea for that to happen?"

"Probably not, but I want to kiss you."

"Okay." Virgil nodded, and let Roman connect their lips, holding Virgil closer than before. The kiss wasn't anything special.

When they parted, Roman's hands moved from Virgil's face to his waist, where they rested there, holding him close. Their foreheads rested against one another's and Virgil sighed, looking away.

"This is a bad idea."

"Why do you say that?"

"We broke up, I shouldn't be doing this." Virgil tried to back away, but Roman's hands held him close.

"We can try again."

"Roman, we broke up because you cheated on me with Logan!" Virgil sighed shakily, and looked up at his ex boyfriend. It was days like this, moments like this, that made the breakup seem pointless. Virgil wanted to let go, and move on, but with Roman holding him like this, it was hard. "I spent so many nights crying over you, days pining over you, and here you are, asking me to forgive you again. I can't forgive you. Logan was my best friend, and he knew we were together, yet he let you kiss him."

"Virgil..."

"I loved you. I spent so many nights telling myself it was all okay, only to fall asleep, and wake up to see you two whispering and laughing together. I missed you and you didn't care, but here you are, the past few days, pretending as though it never happened, and trying to come back. I don't want you back."

"But the kiss..."

"I know! I want to kiss you, I want to feel affection, and feel loved, but not from you. I crave this, but not you. This isn't working, we can't do this."

"But..."

"No. Please, let me go, don't touch me, don't talk to me, don't acknowledge me. I'm over you, and I'm over the things I felt for you. You're no more than a stranger to me, and I refuse to ever be with you again."

Virgil pulled himself from Roman's grip, and walked away. Two years of a ruined relationship, that never really went anywhere, and Virgil finally had the sense to see what was going on, maybe he didn't give Roman the chance to explain, but it was better to cut both him and Logan out of his life. He was better off without them.

He took time, built himself back up, made himself better, put everything back in place, and moved on. He found someone better, who actually loved him, who cared for him, and made him feel valued. Who wouldn't cheat on him with his best friend. Someone who told him the lies were false, and that he was better than he ever thought he was. He and Roman stayed strangers, they didn't talk, didn't care for one another, and they left each other alone.

Virgil was over it, and he didn't care about Roman. Of course he still crossed his mind, but less and less frequently. He was focused on the now, and he was happy with his boyfriend.

"Pat?"

"Yeah?" His boyfriend looked at him and smiled, letting him press a soft kiss to his lips.

"I love you."

"I love you too."
