"It wasn't even the fact this kid sat next to me," Lily told me, using exaggerated hand motions. The more excited she got over things the more her box dyed blonde hair did. She decided in the summer she wanted to "change it up". It looks okay but I wish she would've just gotten it professionally done then it would've looked a lot more natural and not box dyed.I nodded along to the rest of her stories from the class prior as I watch people file into the cafeteria. "Mhm,"
She babbled on with her story, not a care in the world. "He checked me out! Maybe if he was cute, I could've let it slide, but he wasn't. And it was one of those super obvious ones too," She picked a fry from my tray and popped it into her mouth.
I looked at my tray and pushed my not eaten fries over to her, watching as she started stuffing them in her mouth. "Yeah that seems like it sucks. Good thing you're the pretty one."
Lily sighed, as she hated when I said that. "You're. Pretty. Stop. Talking. Like. That." With each word she threw a grape at me. "You'll find your Percy some day."
Percy was her boyfriend of one year so far and she swears she's in love with him. I like him don't get me wrong, but she's the only person I talk to, besides him now. He's not bad by any means and he even lets me tag along on their dates depending on where they go. My only problem with him is he's kind of "too perfect" if you get what I mean.
His beach blonde hair is too perfect with it's little curly strand that falls perfectly on his face. He has good grades of course and plays baseball. Mr. AllTheGirlsWantHim. And guess what? He's a gentleman too.
"When I Amira Evans find my Percy, the heavens will rain down from above and pigs will fly," I picked up one of the grapes that hadn't fallen off the table and threw them at her.
Lily frowned at me and was just about to counter with something when the bell rang and I got up as quickly as I could and scurried off to my next class before she could scold me some more.
As I walked to my classroom I could feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I glanced to see who it was from as I weaved my way through the halls.
Mom: Your father and I have to go visit your grandpa tonight after we eat dinner. Don't forget.
Instead of stop walking to answer her text I just kept walking full speed just turning at the right times when suddenly I ran into someone and dropped my phone.
"Shit. Shit. Shit," I mumbled, quickly snatching my phone.
I heard someone groan and look up to see a pair of brown eyes staring back at me. It was a he. And he did not look familiar. I haven't seen him in the halls before. Judging by the books on the ground, he's a senior. And he was kind of cute not gonna lie.
"I'm so sorry," I said as I took his hand and got up as quickly as possible. "I wasn't looking to see where I was going and I was texting and walking which is not a good idea-"
The boy smiled at me and shrugged. "No, it's my bad. I have no idea where I'm going with my eyes glued to this schedule." He dusted himself off and reached down and picked up a book I dropped. "Have a nice day," He grinned, dropping it onto the pile of stuff in my arms and walked off, looking back at his schedule.
I quickly hit send on the text that caused me to nearly get run over in the hallway and hurry to class.

The bell rang, signalling they I could finally leave the hell that was school and begin my walk home. I slipped in my earbuds and everything around me slowly dissolved as the music took over. Walking closer to my house, I stopped to grab the mail and saw that the neighbors house across the street that had been empty for a year, had a little girl playing in the front yard.
She looked up at me and waved, her arms swinging erratically in the air. "Hi!" She called out, her pigtails swinging as she stood up. Pigtails had a cute little yellow checkered dress and she was playing with two dolls she had. Cute. I gave a curt wave and opened my front door, rushing inside.
Ever since my older brother Tony moved out and into college our house has been dead quiet, since I'm not as much as an extrovert as he is. The only noise in the house when I enter is the ticking of the clock in the living room.
We need to a dog or something it's too quiet in here.
After dropping off my stuff in my room I glanced out the window and at the once vacant house to see the little girl was gone and must've gone inside. I close my curtains knowing if anyone on the second floor looked out the window they could see the outline of me and I did not want that.
The less the people know about me and my life the better. There's no huge family secret or something, I just wasn't a very open person and I didn't want people prying either. I've always been a kind of distrusting person anyways. Lily's only been to my house a handful of times since we became friends freshman year. I live in a decent house in a decent neighborhood, but we just migrate to her house which is fine with me.
