Chapter 2: Practice Time Ladies

The guards are turned the lights off as it's night time.

"Lights out in ten minutes ladies."
Orders C.O Ward.

Carol lays in her bunk, flipping through a magazine as her cellmate snores uncontrollably.

"Ugh. When will you shut it?"

Carol mutters to herself and after 20 minutes of listening to her cellmate snore. Carol sets her magazine down, gets up and flips her cellmate, Hoelfer onto her back and Carol lays back down and passes out.

*In D-Block*

Barb is having a complete meltdown.
"No! Please! The flies will get me!"

Nicky rushes over to Barbs cell.
"Geez Barb, calm down."

"The..The flies will eat me!" Cries Barb as she is in the corner of her cell. Nicky goes over to Barb and puts her arms around her. "Listen, Barb, the flies only go after vegetables, okay?"

"Exactly! I'm a carrot! Don't let them get me!" Barb says and Nicky holds her in her arms.

"Okay, well you see, I was recently appointed, the Lord of the flies, they won't go after you, plus we have frogs here, you see? Ribbit ribbit."

Nicky imitates a frog to get Barb to calm down and she chuckles and Nicky helps Barb onto the bed and makes sure she falls asleep.

[Next Morning]
The lights go on.

"Rise and Shine ladies, gunna be a bright day today" says CO Ginger aka Copeland and she hums "Shake it off" by Taylor Swift as she makes her rounds. Counting and checking off each inmate on a paper similar to an attendance in schools to ensure that everyone is accounted for.

"Chapman, Denning, Dwight, Ecklercamp, Hoelfer, Murphy, Vause, and Reznikov?" C.O Ginger calls out and they respond by waving and Murphy is fast asleep in her bunk still and C.O Ginger walked over and tapped on her bunk.

"Hey, Murphy, get up. Rise and Shine. Kickball day." C.O Ginger walks off to her desk to fill out paperwork.

Carol walks over to the sleeping Murphy's cell. "Hey, Murphy." She stands there and after a moment bended over and whispered in Murphy's ear.

"If you don't get up in ten minutes, well, you won't want to find out what happens to you. Get up."

Murphy yawned and got up.
"Yes, Carol? What's up?"

Carol sits next to Murphy. "Today's kickball practice, make sure you get out girls whipped into shape, and don't screw it up, got it?"

Murphy nods. "Got it boss. I will not let you down." Murphy gets up and Carol leaves Murphy to her thoughts.

*Meanwhile in D-Block*

"Barb woke up and seen Nicky fast asleep next to her bunk on the floor. "Hey, Kid." Barb said as Nicky woke up. "Yes?" Nicky responds while yawning and fixing her hair.

"We have kickball practice today. You and a few of the other girls are playing. I might watch. Should go and get the girls ready." Barb said. "Got it."
Nicky was about to leave when Barb thanked her for assisting her last night and Nicky gets the girls ready for kickball.

C.O Ward walks over to C-Block and brings the girls outo a small court yard. C.O Ginger hands Murphy the kickball. "Here's the ball, also these three ladies from B-Block shall be joining your team." Ginger says as inmates Suzanne Warren, Tiffany Doggett, and Sophia Burset walked into the court yard and stood next to Chapman.

"Hey, Pipes, it's been awhile."
Said Doggett as she smirked.

"Yeah it has and you alright?"
Piper asks as she fixes her hair.

"Yeah, I'm alright, thanks. you?"
Doggett replies smiles as Piper looks at her and they smirk at each other.
"I'm alright as well."

Chapman hugs Doggett quickly as they glance at each other and at Murphy and the others.

Murphy smirks. "Alright ladies, let's do this. Shall we? You guys are kickers and you guys are catches. First give me five laps, ten pushups and then kickball."

She watches as Chapman, Doggett, Suzanne, Sophia, and Akers, Creech, Chambal, both Amy's start running laps, pushups and then they lined up to kick the ball and the other girls to catch the ball, to get the other players out.

After a practice C.O Ginger walks over. "Good game ladies. Good leadership there Murphy, read any good issues on how to play kickball before? Come on now, back to your cells. Come on," Ginger leads them to their cells.

C.O Ward brings in the D-Block crew to have their turn to pratcice and it Barb had appointed Nicky and "Daddy" as leaders and they divided the group into two teams. kickers and catches. They first did yoga stretches then dove right into pratice.

Murphy and her team head back to their cells. "Wasn't that just fun?" Chapman asks.

"Oh yeah, it was, Gapman." Murphy said and she cracks up laughing as they head over to Carol's table.

"Well?" Carol says and while currently sucking on a sucker. S
he looks at Murphy and Chapman. Chapman smirks. "It went well Car".

Carol sighs. "Never call me 'Car'. Murphy? What do you have to say?"

Murphy scratches her head. "It went well as Chapman said, they listened and shockingly, to my surprise, Chapman, and a few others were good at running. Also there were a few girls from Florida that joined in."

Carol looked up from her cards. "Murphy, what was their names?"

"One was Warren, Suzanne Warren, the other Sophia Burset, and Tiffany Doggett. Why?" Murphy wonders.

Carol sighs. "You never mind, did you see Barb's squad? If so, how many girls were there?"

"I dunno Carol, about five or seven? We was just leaving at the time." Murphy shrugs.

"Was there a girl with dirty blonde curly (or messy) hair?" Red asks curiously as Murphy looks at her.

"I don't know, maybe, Why?"

Red sighs. "No reason." Murphy and Chapman head back to their cells.

*In D-Block* Nicky followed by Mendoza, Flaca, Dominga (aka Daddy), Ruiz, and Damiva return and sit next to Barb.

"So...how'd it go?" Barb questions as she drinks a diet coke.

"It was good. We had good practice. Dominga here-"  Nicky gets interupted.

"Please, it's Daddy."

Nicky chuckles. "okay as I was saying..Daddy and the girls did a great job today. Mendoza has one powerful kick, as does Ruiz, Flaca, and Damiva are very fast runners."

"Good, I'm glad. My girls did good and you girls earned yourselves a treat. Diet cokes, on me." Barb said as she hands out diet coke to the girls.

Later that Night while D and C-Block are fast asleep, in B-Block (also known as Florida by Carol), Suzanne Warren was telling what happened in kickball to Freida and which Suzanne is in bed snug as a bug.

"So, I saw Dandelion there and Doggett was awesome at running and kicking and---"

Freida intrudes. "and sorry but did you happen to see a tall, brown haired lady with glasses? Goes by the name of Carol?" Frieda sighs as Suzanne shook her head no.

"Nope. Sorry, don't know her and mummy never said talk to strangers".

Frieda sighs "Alright and Goodnight Suzanne." Frieda says and they fall asleep and the whole prison is silent.
