Anne Shirley-Cuthbert had been sent to numerous families all along her short life — ten of them, and only in eight years, not including the times when nobody wanted her and she had to stay in the orphan asylum, which was a living nightmare for her.
One time, she was sent to live with the Allens, a rich family who lived in New Brunswick that was in need of a servant (but, of course, nobody had to know that). This people treated her like garbage, that's for sure, but there was one little thing that made Anne want to stay with them...
The Allens were really good friends of a family which lived in Prince Edward Island; the Blythes. They went to visit the Allens very often.
That's where Anne meets the Blythe's youngest son, Gilbert, and quickly become best friends in secret, her not being allowed to speak to anyone. Of course, Gilbert's family's stay was not so long, so Anne and Gilbert went separate ways. He was with his family and Anne, in the orphanage.
However, DESTINY happened to want them together ─ even if it was a five minute encounter, they still could see each other. Their meetings made Anne's life much less misserable, even if she couldn't see him all the time.
But, what happens when Anne is sent (for real) to live in a little town of Prince Edward Island, just where Gilbert lives?
