Chapter Three: An Old Enemy
"Hello." His english accent was something I didn't expect. "You must be the new teacher of classroom 4d." He adjusted his glasses. "I didn't expect you to be so... young." He chuckled, I moved a strand of hair from my face.
"Might I ask, what are you reading?" He smiled.
"A tale of two star-crossed lovers."
"Romeo and Juliet?"
"Yes, even though it's very popular, I read it like it's a new book. This is my forth time reading it this week." May stood behind me shocked.
'Marshall never talks to us, Roxanne.' She explained. 'He always sits in the corner reading whatever book he has.'
'Really?'
'Yeah, he's a man of few words. But, you're getting sentences from him!' I smiled.
Maybe, I'm slowly gaining my courage back.
Suddenly, the door slammed open and I jumped on Marshall. He held his book tight, trying not to lose his page. A green haired woman stood in the doorway, and pointed towards me. "You. Come with me. Now." The other teachers looked at her and went back to what they were doing before I entered.
'Stay calm, Roxanne. That's just Lydia.' Sandra spoke to me, in a mental link.
'Who is she?'
'She's the Dean for this floor.. We all had to face her when we all came here. Just stay calm, and you'll make it through her wra-' Sandra's voice was cut off and Lydia glared at me.
"No talking." She held a ruler in her hand. She cut off my mental link with Sandra and blocked me from talking with others or from them listening in on our conversation. "I remember you, Roxanne. Four years have passed and you still look a mess."
Wait a minute.. Lydia.. Oh..
Lydia Blackthorn was one of my classmates back at the academy. We never got along.. In fact, we hated each other. Complete opposites, and she didn't atempt to become friends with me. So, we stayed away from each other until we had to work totgether.. Seeing her now made me remember that final mission during our last year.
"Hello, Lydia..." I watched as she looked at me with disgust, and hatred.
"And, just how did filth like you get into this school? I specifically told that idiot, May, to find a replacement. Not a dummy. If it were up to me, I'd have her gone faster than you can say 'Goodbye..'. But, nevermind her, You.." She slapped her ruler on her desk. "..Are now my problem. Just like at the Academy. But, this time no one's will be there to hold your hand. Not like how Miss Birchwood did." I fought back tears. "She did everything to teach you, and in the end you didn't even learn a thing. A shame she made you her apprentice."
"Did you bring me her to berate me? Or, is there a point to this?" I snapped at her, and quickly cover my mouth.
"I brought up here so I could help you."
I uncover my mouth, "How is you talking about my flaws, and pointing out my past failures helping me?" And cover it again.
"So, you think you're hot stuff don't you? Just because you graduated early? If it weren't for Miss Birchwood-"
"Shut up!" I shouted at her. "Shut your mouth! Don't think that for a minute, I'm going to sit here and let you make me believe I passed the Academy with nothing I did for myself. Miss Birchwood taught me that people can help, but it is up to you to do the most. Maybe if you weren't such a bitch, you would have been her apprentice!" I yelled as loud as I can, sending a shockwave through her soundproof barrier in her office, shattering it.
"Now, if you have nothing more to say, I'll be taking my leave." I walked out her office, slamming the door shut behind me. Looking behind me, I sprinted back to the Teacher's Lounge and hid under the table..
"So, how did it go?" Skye asked me, the others looked down at me.
I sighed. "I think I screwed up.."
~
Standing in the middle of my office, I dropped my weapon of choice, and began laughing. "Oh, Roxanne.. You don't know what you've just started.."
