Chapter Four: Trips and Falls

Biting the inside of my cheek, I watched as May did her challenge from a student. She was completely calm about the fact that they were literally throwing fireballs, shards of ice, and lightning at her. A few of the other teachers stood nearby just incase something were to go wrong, which is just what I feared.

Two days had passed since my encounter with a green dragon, meeting every teacher on this floor, and having to battle with myself over everything. My second day mostly consisted of having to sit in my classroom, learning the names of students and more team building activities. Later, I read a book Marshall had recommeded. It would seem as though he had a thing for romance novels and such. It was quite strange finding out that bit of information, but I didn't mind to say the least. I admired it. Just as long as the others didn't find out.. Especially Vern.

My third day at the school was actually stressful. I had to be observed by the dean, The Green Dragon, for the entire day. Lydia was watching my every move, closely and quietly, not once taking her eyes off me. I nearly died when she walked into my classroom and sat in the back of everyone. "Hello, students. Don't mind me, I'm just testing the new teacher.." She smiled, with a clipboard in her hand, and her eyes gleaming with a sadistic shine. She wasn't like this before, but I guess it was because of... I felt a sharp pain run through the back of my head as I tried to remember what happened. Perhaps if I remeber some other stuff I'd trigger the one I want.

I thought more about my time at the academy.

"Welcome to Aya Sinclair's Academy.. My name is Lyra Birchwood. I will be your tour guide. I am also a teacher at this school." A brown-haired lady stood in front of the group that I resided in. The boy next to me nudged my side. "So, uh.. What's your name?" I smiled.

"I'm Roxanne..."

"I'm Remy. So, how did you find out about this school, Roxanne?" I sighed, preparing my  answer..

"Roxanne?" I snapped out of my daze, and turned my attention back to what was happening in front of me. Sandra was standing in front of me, holding a small black book.

"Oh, um. I'm sorry, Sandra. What's up?" I stumbled over my words. She smiled, softly.

"Well, I was wondering if you'd like to join me, Viola and Skye for some coffee? May's currently busy with some personal projects."

"Um, sure.." My eyes flashed to the scene behind her, Blake and Marshall were talking to the students about the beginning of the year trip. I guess it was a custom at this school, but there would always be a trip to make sure the students were comfortable with there assigned teachers. I just hope that I did well enough, to actually be able to teach.

Sandra and I walked through the courtyard to see that Vern was using his magic for something. A white scarf wrapped loosely around his neck, and with a flash is was in his hand that snapped towards a tree, sending a shard of ice into it. He twirled his scarf and snow fell from a little cloud that he had made. "And, that's just my way of doing it." He smiled, and noticed that I was watching.

"Hello, Roxanne! You're just in time to watch me-"

"Show-off.. But, no. She's walking with me." Sandra cut him off mid sentance, before a gust of wind blew his snow-cloud away. Vern whined a bit, as Sandra rolled her eyes, then narrowed them..

"That wasn't very nice of you, Sandy." He pouted, wrapping his scarf around his neck. Sandra scoffed, before walking away.. "You're just jealous of my skills, Sandy."

Sandra stopped before her left foot could make it's next step away from him. "What... What did you say?" A big gust of wind slammed into my face as she spun around to face the blue-haired man, her hands balled into fist.

"You're. Jealous." He smiled, slowly, knowing he'd just started something.

She adjusted her glasses before pulling a tiny black deck of cards from her pocket and setting them on the ground in front of her. "Apologize, now. Or suffer." The deck started to glow.

"Never." Vern tugged lightly on his scarf. Wind blasted Vern, and Frost landed on Sandra. One could only wonder who would take the first step into battle.

It was Sandra, who ran toward him while blasting wind towards him, but he rolled out of the way and ran behind her. She flipped and sent a whirlwind towards him, and he threw a snowball into the air, which the landed on her head. Sandra growled as she rushed towards him, her cards catching up to her. I watched as she guided her cards throught the air, and I wondered who would have the last word.

It was Vern, who wrapped Sandra in his scarf and pulled her close. The black cards, suddenly dropped, scattered around the sand. He chuckled and slowly moved toward her ear, and blood rushed to my cheeks from the sight of his actions. He said something to her which made her face turn red and litterally blow him away into a tree. She stomped towards him, the wind growing with every step she took. "Go to Hell, Vern." She growled, walking back to me. Vern landed on the ground as the wind stopped holding him, and laughed.

"We'll finish this later, yeah?" He smiled, and she glared at him. Sandra grabbed my hand and walked off towards the lounge. Her white hair wet after the snowball that landed on her head, melted.

"S..Sandra, are you alright?" I asked, still worried that she would be angry after a fight like that. She turned toward me and sighed.

"I'm fine, Roxanne. I'm sorry you had to see that." She grabbed her other arm and held it. "C'mon, let's go.." We walked to the lounge, opening the door to see Skye and Viola sitting on the floor, laughing and giggling.

"Well, you two finally showed up!" Skye looked up at us, and I realized she didn't have on her glasses.

"Did something happen?" Viola asked, wearing a pair of black glasses.

"Yes, it was-" A knock interrupted Sandra.

"Hey, Sandy! You in there?" Vern asked from outside the door, his voice calmer than usual, and I could feel the the rage growing inside her. A breeze began to blow in the room, and I hugged myself for warmth. Skye and Viola didn't seem to react as much, knowing that Sandra was most likely to blow the door down, crushing Vern with it. Her fist clenched as hard as they could, before she released her hand and stopped when Vern spoke..

"Could... Could we talk outside? I need to talk with you.." I think he touched the door.

She walked towards the door, and touched it. The breeze stopped, and I felt something poke my knee. Looking down, I saw Viola and Skye grinning lke the new the biggest secret ever.

"Roxanne, darling. We need to talk with you." Skye extended her arm out and motioned me to come sit with them.

"Something, important." Viola giggled.

I could only fear the worst.. Pink and Yellow never seemed to mix well, with me.
