The Elemental War

Chapter 1

The months past since Firefly had had her dream of The Seekers and told the prophecy of the future. She had come back from hunting and ate her kill after dropping off half of it to the king and the prince of her clan. She got done eating and walked over to her egg in it's small nest keeping it warm. "My baby, I know you will look different, so tonight I shall take you and give you to the The Electricity Clan. There I will leave you and you will be raised there. But do not forget me, no matter what. You will stop this war, but you cannot stay here for King Sorin may kill you before you kill him. For tomorrow you will hatch and I will see you hatch my little Lotus." she said softly to her egg. 

That night it became midnight and she was to meet Bolt, the army commander of the Electricity Clan. She woke up and grabbed her egg. Peeking out of her den and seeing a clearing, she took her chance and took to the sky being sure to stay out of sight. Later on she met Bolt in the forest of the Earth Dragon Clan edge and walked up with her egg. "I thank you for meeting me Bolt." she said. "The king knows of this meeting, you were not followed were you?" asked the male. "No i was not." she answered. He nodded "Follow me, we will travel by foot." said Bolt as the two began to walk. 

After what seemed to be a few hours they had reached Electricity Clan territory and walked to an empty den where Firefly could see her hatchling hatch tomorrow. She thanked Bolt and he nodded kindly as he walked away. She set her egg on a nest and wrapped her tail around it and closed her eyes to sleep. 

Hours later and the sun had risen. She awoke to expect to see her egg. But there had been broken shells all over the floor. She only had a small bit of the bottom still wrapped up. Smiling she stood up and looked around. Noticing a little black and white tail from behind a rock she looked over. "Well now, what are you doing little one?" she asked the hatchling. Out came a black and white dragon. Half of the dragon was black and the other half was white. As his eyes were ice blue and feathered wings. 

Firefly smiled and looked at her hatchling "Welcome my little Lotus." she said. The hatching then smiled and leaped around happily. Soon a dragon had landed outside the cave. "I see he has hatched." said the male. Firefly turned and had seen Strike, King Strike as she respectfully bowed her head. He walked in and looked at Lotus. "Well he is as you said The Seekers had described him. Black and white the symbol of Yin-Yang." said the king. Firefly nods and looks at the dragon. "There is about nowhere for him to hide. Is it alright if he stays here in your clan?" she asked. 

Strike nods "Yes, until he is old enough to care for himself and figure out his destiny. Go back to your clan before they become suspicious of your absence, Firefly." he said. She nodded as she looked at her Lotus. "Take care my little one. You will live here now. Don't forget me for I am with you even if you cannot see me I am there. Stay strong when others are weak and be safe. I will see you in years to come." she said as she nuzzled her hatchling as tears began to flow from her eyes. With a sigh and a few steps to the cave opening she looked back at her Lotus and smiled softly as she took to the sky and flew back to the Fire Clan. 

Lotus looked around trying to figure out where his mother had gone and why she had left him. Trying to figure out what her words meant but he was to small to know. Little did he know he had a great fate upon him as he grew. Strike looked at him and sighed "You will grow here until you are 10 years of age, by then you can live on your own. Until then you will live here." said the king as he looked at the black and white dragon and soon he turned to leave the cave and fly back to his den. 

Lotus was left by himself as he explored the cave. Looking around he ran around and jumped on rocks as he stalked mice or rats that would pass by, or even pounce on a bug or two and try to catch them. 

Lotus fell asleep that night hoping his mother would be back but she never returned as he slept a bit during the night. He had a vision but once he awoke he didn't remember it for he was to young. As the sun rose he ventured outside the cave and onto the cliff where he could see the dragons of the Electricity Clan flying around in the morning and catching their morning meal as he wanted to fly but he could not because he was to young. 

Weeks turned to months and went on and he began to grow he had gone around and learned to fly as he played with many of the other hatchlings. "Where are you from Lotus?" asked a golden female named Hara asked. "Not sure, I hatched in that cave over there" answered Lotus as he looked at a cave in the mountain. "Some are saying you are an unknown species." said a yellow male named Drone said "What?" asked Lotus. "Yeah, many are saying this." said Drone. "That can't be true." said Hara. "I don't even know what species I am, Hara." said Lotus. "You might be an Ice dragon of the Ice Clan." she said. 

Lotus shrugged as this for he didn't know what he was or what clan he belonged to. Soon King Strike called Lotus and he had to go. "I'll catch you later." he said as he spread his wings and flew to the king. As he landed he bowed his head to the king.
