KYSON'S POV

"Umagang kay ganda!" bati ko sa mga kasambahay habang binabagtas ang daan patungo sa dining table. "Umagang kay ganda sir!" bati nila pabalik.

"Umagang kay ganda!" I greeted my mom and dad eating already on the dining table. "December na!" I said in a higher tone.

"You're really excited, son. Haha!" sagot ni Mom habang nakatuon pa rin sa pagkain. "Anyway, time really flew fast, right? Parang kailan lang noong huli tayong nag-celebrate ng Pasko at New Year." Mom added and I smiled.

"Oo nga Martina, parang kailan lang rin noong nawala si Kyden sa atin." Dad blunted.

"Joaquin!" agad na sumabat si Mom. "Aren't we supposed to be happy for every Christmas para sumaya rin si Kyden sa kung saan man siya ngayon? You're letting Kyson reminisce that dark past again." she added.

"Haha. As if you didn't mourn on your son's death." sagot ni Dad. "Anyway, Kyson, son, umupo ka na and let's eat. Don't worry, son, I'm just happy that I'm seeing my family happy for the yuletide season. Noon, hindi natin matanggap nang lubos na nawala ang kambal sa mismong araww ng Pasko." he clarified, making me smile.

Yup. I have a twin brother named Kyden, and unfortunately, he's gone.

I sat on a chair and ate with them.

"Off mo ngayon sa hospital, right? Any plans for today?" tanong ni Mom.

"Nothing, I guess? Maybe Dra. Montevalor could invite me over her place for lunch or dinner?" sagot ko.

"That Dra. Lucille Montevalor anyway." singit ni Dad. "How are things with her?" he asked.

"I'm a fan of her. You should get a woman like her, or else, just marry her."

I just laughed. "Dad, Lucille is just a close colleague of mine."

"Then kailan mo kami mabibigyan ng apo, Kyson?" Mom cracked out.

*phone vibrates*

Dra. Lucille Montevalor

"Speaking of Lucille, she's calling." I said and escaped from the kitchen.

"Hello?"

"Dr. Fontero, you are needed here for an emergency surgery." -Lucille.

"Why? Aren't you in-charge?"

"She's my cousin, Kyson. I can't operate her." -Lucille.

I took a deep breath.

"Fine, I'll be there in 10 minutes."

I ended the call and headed up to prepare.

PHIL-ASIAN MEDICAL HOSPITAL

"Kyson!" Lucille approached upon seeing me. She handed me a copy of a CT scan result.

" She is Lorraine Jennica Montevalor, my cousin. She incurred a brain hemorrhage. Nadawit siya sa drag racing accident kaninang madaling-araw, at dito dinala dahil sa referral na kailangan ng emergency surgery." she explained.

Napabuntong-hininga ako sa narinig. Upon looking at the CT scan, I'm alarmed.

"Good direction. She needs an emergency surgery. Wala na siyang masyadong oras. Dr. Montevalor, please call the Anesthesiology." I asked her and ran on the receiving area.
