Deerfight opened her eyes to sunlight shining on her face. "Argh! That hole in the warriors' den lets me have no rest!" She turned around in her nest and closed her eyes, only to have a claw prod her in the side.

"Deerflight, you are on patrol! Get UP!" Shouted Greenfeather. Deerflight sighed and nodded. She padded out of the den and looked at the freshkill pile, noticing how hungry she was. Eyeing the pile once more, she decided against it. The fresh-kill was running a bit low. Deerflight hurried to meet the deputy, Brackenclaw.

"Brackenclaw, I'm on patrol, right?" She asked, knowing Greenfeather was one to play a trick on cats.

Brackenclaw shook his head. "No. But I know that Greenfeather was on a patrol with me and some others. Can you get him for me?"

Deerflight nodded, a growl rising in her throat. She headed back to the warriors den to find Greenfeather sleeping. A mischeivous idea popped into her mind. She snuck up behind him and put her head to his ear. And hissed as loudly as she could. Greenfeather jumped. "Ah! What, who happens?" Greenfeather exclaimed in fright.

Deerflight chuckled. "Greenfeather, you were supposed to go on the patrol, not me!"

Greenfeather looked down in embarrassment. "Um... well... okay, I'll go now!" He dashed out of the warriors' den. Deerflight heard Brackenclaw scolding Greenfeather. She laughed in amusement and walked out of the warriors' den again, heading for the nursery. She stopped by the fresh-kill pile to pick out a plump squirrel.

When Deerflight reached the nursery, she heard Fernbreeze talking to Gorsepelt, her mate, and wondered if she should leave the couple alone. Deciding to just deliver the prey and go, she jumped back as a furious Gorsepelt stormed out of the nursery. Deerflight went in to find a crying Fernbreeze.

"Fernbreeze! What's wrong!" She sat down next to her and dropped the squirrel on the ground.

"I.. I don't know. Gorsepelt just exploded at me... said I was a slut that just wanted to have strong kits like him, and he just---Ah!"  Fernbreeze shouted in frustration.

Deerflight was puzzled. It was as if Gorsepelt was crazy. Just... doing that. She shook it off. It was like him to be mad... but not this far. "I brought you a squirrel, Fernbreeze. We could share it." Fernbreeze shook her head.

"No, I just need some alone time. Thanks for the squirrel though." Fernbreeze smiled through the tears.

That was unexpected. I hope nothing like that happens again. Urgh. I'm so MAD at Gorsepelt. Fernbreeze is a nice queen. I need to talk to him. Mind made up, Deerflight went into the warriors' den and spotted Gorsepelt sulking in his nest.

"Gorsepelt. I saw you looked in a bad mood... do you want to go and have a walk?" Deerflight said in concern.

Gorsepelt looked at her. "Sure. Better you than that slut," He said under his breath. It was just loud enuough for her to hear. She was taken aback.

Deerflight and he walked out of the camp side by side, heading towards the sunrock. When they got there, Deerflight and Gorsepelt lay down. "Well... What about Fernbreeze?"

Gorsepelt's expression darkened. I just found out that she wasn't at all who I thought she was. I thought she actually loved me."

Deerflight growled. "She does love you! I heard that you called her a slut who just wanted to have kits with you because you would make her kits strong!"

Gorsepelt rolled his eyes. "Yes, I did call her that, because she IS a slut who just wanted kits. She is a slut who wanted kits because she was in heat."

Deerflight shook her head, calming down a bit. "No, she wasn't. She is a sweet cat."

"She is not a regular cat."

"Yes, she is. And if you think different, tell me what she really is!"

Gorsepelt sighed. "Alright."
