Chapter Four

Katherine's POV

----------------------------------

For a while, nothing was really happening at Hogwarts. Except for a troll breaking into the school and almost killing Harry, Ron, and Hermione. But that's a different story.

I continued tutoring the Gryffindor guys. I can see why the Sorting Hat might've put me I. Gryffindor, I really fit in.

But I still had all my friends in Ravenclaw. I didn't completely abandon them, but we didn't really all have a lot in common. They mostly talked about muggle literature, and I was raised to hate muggles.

But we still all hung out and did homework together. They kept doing that thing where they kind of ignored me, but I don't think it was their fault.

Christmas came out of nowhere. My parents wanted me to go home, but I was afraid that my father would lock me in my room and I wouldn't be able to come back. No, I'm not kidding. He probably would do that.

No one else in a Ravenclaw was staying (besides some older kids who I didn't know), so I figured I would probably read the entire time. I was in the library when Fred and George came up to me.

"Katherine! What're you doing in here?" George asked.

"Yeah Katherine, you should be in our common room, beating Ron at chess!" Said Fred.

They picked me up and carried me to their common room, despite my protests.

"Ladies and germs!" Announced Fred.

"May we present," George said.

"Katherine the Undefeated!" They said, in unison.

"I heard that a certain Weasley around here claims he is the best at chess?" I ask.

Ron stands up. "Katherine, I'm better than you in chess. I even beat Percy!"

"Yeah, we'll see about that." (A/N: I don't know enough about chess to say how they played so I'm just going to give you a quick summary)

Ron probably wanted everyone to be quiet, but I have to talk while playing chess. I don't know why. So I was discussing pranks with Fred and George while I played. Apparently, ever since I helped them the first time, they put their trust in me. Now I mainly help them go over plans.

After an intense hour, I finally said "Checkmate."

"What?! No! That's not possible!" Cried Ron. "You cheated! I demand a rematch!" So we played again. Percy even came to watch, and to make sure neither of us was cheating. And I won, again!

"I AM THE QUEEN OF CHESS!" I declared. "I'M GOING BACK TO MY COMMON ROOM TO SLEEP!"

-------------------------------

Ron kept insisting on playing me every day. It was really quite boring.

"I AM THE QUEEN OF CHESS!" I yelled, on Christmas Eve. I was bored of playing chess, and an idea popped into my mind. "I DEMAND THAT WE GO OUTSIDE AND HAVE A SNOWBALL FIGHT, OR I WILL STOP HELPING YOU WITH POTIONS AND STUFF!"

Snowball fights are actually really fun. We decided to have sort of a capture the flag game. It was myself, Ron, and Percy, against Harry and the twins.

"Okay guys. Here's the game plan. Ron, you hide the flag over near Hagrid's hut. Percy, you need to build walls of snow to keep them out and maybe two towers near Hagrid's hut, a decoy and a real thing to hide the flag. Can you do that quickly?" He nodded. "Good, because you will also need to help Ron defend the flag. If you need to, collapse the tower so it's buried in snow. Now, Fred and George will likely be coming to get the flag, and Harry will most likely be guarding. I'll figure out where they hid it, and retrieve it from there."

"Why do you get to go get the flag Katherine?" Ron complained.

"Because I'm good at sneaking around and I'm a really fast sprinter. So you get how this is going to work?" They nodded. "Great. Let's do this."

We had five minutes to prepare, which was spent making defenses. We had a lot of traps, so they would have to be careful of where they stepped. The rules were simple. No bad hexes, no hiding the flag buried in snow, no hiding the flag on a person, no hiding the flag indoors, and no hiding the flag in the Whomping Willow (that was only a rule for Fred and George though). But other than that, you were allowed anything.

We had started a timer for the game to count down when I had an idea. "Percy, can you do a shield spell?"

He nodded and said "protego". I really hope that it works, otherwise this was going to fail.

The timer rang and I ran off, onto the other side. All I had to do was find Fred and George.

It was easier than I expected. A few minutes later I heard a scream. I ran in that direction. George had sunken neck deep into the snow! This was the perfect time. I whispered "Legilimens", and I was transported into his mind.

I quickly skimmed through unimportant memories, until I found one of them all hiding the flag next to the Quidditch Pitch. Perfect!

I left the memory and ran away. I was almost to the field when I realized that I would be completely exposed running across it... But it's a risk I have to take. I knew that it was behind the posts on the right, so I entered closer to it. I realized that Harry would probably be in the stands, but not prepared for me coming. I hope the shield spell will work.

3...2...1... I ran onto the pitch and grabbed the flag. It wasn't until I was sprinting back when Harry saw me. He started shooting curses at me, but they bounced off of me. It was a miracle! He swore, and ran down, trying to get onto the field. But he was way too late, I was long gone when he got there. I didn't try to conceal myself at all. I must have stepped on a lot of their traps because snowballs were flung at me. But it didn't matter, because the shield charm protected me.

Finally, I reached my territory. "VICTORY!!!!" I called. I looked around. One of the towers had collapsed, and Fred and George were struggling to get out of the snow ruins. Ron and a Percy were waving at me from the other tower. A very tired Harry had stopped running after me, and was walking towards us.

I spent the rest of the day drinking butterbeer and eating sweet and sour chicken (we got it from the kitchens). We had a contest to see who could stay awake the longest. Percy quit first, and went back to his dorm to fall asleep. Harry and Ron left next, they were bored and would rather sleep. The twins and I were the only ones left. I took out a book that Nadia had given to me, 'Looking for Alaska' by John Green. Because it took place in America, the geography was kind of hard. But anyways, Fred and George got tired of watching me read, and they fell asleep. Ha! I won! I signed the piece of paper that we made after Harry and Ron left, saying that the two people who lost would have to do whatever the winner said the next day.

I was going to go back to Ravenclaw, but I decided against it. I stayed up reading my book and drinking butterbeer. I remembered that I needed proof that I was up later then them, so I took two pieces of parchment, wrote "I won! ~Katherine" on both of them, and stuck one in their hands. Then, because it was past midnight, I sat on the couch and pulled a blanket over myself, and fell asleep.

A/N: Hi! I'm sorry if there are any grammar mistakes, I'll go over them later. I hope you like this chapter! Please comment your opinions!

And I've decided that even though my chapters in my other stories don't have any read, I'm still going to publish them. I'm working on Chapter Seven right now!

Um, that's it! ~Kate
