Chapter Six

Katherine's POV

------------------------

Christmas break ended, and everything went back to normal. I got presents, from everyone who I gave one to. They said that they forgot to send it, but I wasn't so sure.

A few days later, Hermione came up to me.

"Katherine! We found Nicholas Flamel! He's an alchemist! The three-headed dog is guarding-"

"The Sorcerer's Stone!" We finished together.

"I just remembered! It makes the Elixir of Life! Whoever drinks it is immortal! No wonder you-know-who's after it. That's all he wanted, right? Was to become immortal?"

"Yeah, I just can't believe we didn't figure it out before! All we need to do is stop Snape." said Hermione.

"I wish you guys would stop thinking that it's Snape. He was my babysitter when I was a child! He might be evil, but he wouldn't steal the Sorcerer's Stone. It's just not like him." But she ignored me.

They continued to believe that Snape was evil. He's strict, doesn't like Gryffindors, and wants them to fail Potions. But that doesn't mean that he was going to kill Harry while refereeing a Quidditch match!

------------------------

One day, when we were studying in the library, Hagrid came in. I didn't really know him, but he was friends with most Gryffindors.

"Hagrid! What're you doing here?" asked Ron.

"Jus' lookin'," he said, in a suspicious voice. "An' what're you lot up ter? Yer not still lookin' fed Nicholas Flamel, are yeh?"

"No, we found out who he is ages ago," said Ron impressively. "And we know what that dog's guarding, it's a Sorcerer's St-"

"Shhhh!" Hagrid looked around to see if anyone was listening. "Don' go shoutin' about it, what's the matter with yeh?"

"There are a few things we wanted to ask you, as a matter of fact, about what's guarding the Stone apart from Fluffy-"

"SHHHH!" said Hagrid again. "Listen- come an' see me later, I'm not promisin' I'll tell yeh anythin', mind, but don' go rabbitin' about it in here, students aren' s'pposed ter know. They'll think I've told yeh-"

"See you later, then." said Harry. Hagrid shuffled off.

"What was he hiding behind his back?" I asked thoughtfully. They turned and stared at me, like they forgot I was here, again.

"Do you think it has anything to do with the stone?"

"I'm going to see what section he was in," said Ron, who'd had enough of studying. He came back less than a minute later with a pile of book in his arms and slammed them down on the table.

"Dragons!" he whispered. "Hagrid was looking up stuff about dragons! Look at these: Dragon Species of Great Britain and Ireland; From Egg to Inferno, A Dragon Keeper's Guide."

"Hagrid's always wanted a dragon, he told me so the first time I ever met him," said Harry.

"But it's against our laws," I said. "Dragon breeding was outlawed by the Warlock's Convention of 1709, everyone knows that. It's hard to stop Muggles from noticing us if we're keeping dragons in the back garden- anyway, you can't tame dragons, it's dangerous."
