Chapter 5: the Ruby dragon

Ruby went to her home and sat down on the couch. Her parents came back home and sat next to Ruby. It was night and raining heavily.
"Hey Ruby."
"Hey mom. Hey dad."
"Can we ask you a question?"
"Yeah sure. What's wrong?"
"Are you in love with someone?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well you day-dream sometimes and you draw hearts on your books."
"I just do that."
"We know you Ruby. We can see that you're in love. So when can we meet him?"
"Him?"
"Well he's a boy right? Please say it's a boy." Said Ruby's dad
"What's wrong with a girl?"
"What's wro... What's wrong? I don't want to be seen with a child who's homosexual."
"There is nothing wrong with that. That's life."
"No! If you are in love with a girl I don't want to be your father."
"Are you really against homosexuals? Well I don't want to live here anymore. I have a girlfriend and i'm proud of it."
Ruby took her phone and ran outside to Elizabeth.
"Ruby wait!" Yelled her mom.
"Let her go Barb. She isn't part of the family."
"What do you mean she isn't part of our family? She is our daughter and I'm proud of it. I don't care if she loves girls or boys. She is still our daughter and you can't just kick her out of the family."
"I just did that so I can do that."
"Unbelieveble. How did I marry you."
"What do you mean?"
Barb ran outside and went to search for Ruby.
"Where are you Ruby? Think Barb. Think. Where would Ruby go? To the park? No that's not Ruby. Her girlfriend. Her loved one. Who does she talk so much about? Elizabeth ofcourse!"
Barb ran to Elizabeth her house and knocked on the door. Elizabeth's mom opened the door and looked at Barb wet from the rain.
"Barb?"
"Hey Jessica. Can I come in please?"
"Okey."
They went inside and sat down at the fireplace.
"Is something wrong?"
"Can talk to Ruby please?"
"Ruby? Isn't she at your house?"
"No she ran away and I want to talk to her."
"Why?"
"I feel bad for her. My husband overreacted and I saw it. He even yelled at me for trying to go after her. So I ran away. Just like Ruby."
"So you followed Ruby?"
"Yes and I don't care if she has a boyfriend or a girlfriend. As long that she is happy, I am happy."
"Really?" Said Ruby from the stairs.
"Ruby?"
"Hey mom. Did you mean that?"
"Ofcourse I did. You are my daughter and nothing will change that. Except plastic surgery."
"What?"
"If you do plastic surgery to become a boy than I have to say son and not daughter."
"I won't... I think."
"Wait is Ruby Lesbian?"
"Bi actually but i have a girlfriend."
"Who?"
"Me." Said Elizabeth.
"So we have 2 daughters now? That's going to be weird but fun."
"Yep it will."
"What are you going to do with dad?"
"I don't know."
"We can go against him together."
"All of us?"
"Yes as a family. It has to be tomorrow. There is to much rain now."
"Yeah. I'll sleep on the couch if thats good? And Ruby you can sleep with Elizabeth in the same bed."
"Thanks mom."
"Go to sleep now. It's getting late."
"Goodnight moms."
"Goodnight."
"Thats weird to hear."
"Yeah it does. Well i geuss i should go to sleep too. Don't you want to dry your clothes?"
"But I don't have spare clothes."
"You can use mine."
"Thanks."
"No problem. I'll get you some sheets and pillows. I'll put the clothes on the chair next to you."
"Thanks."
Jessica went after the stuff. She came back and put the stuff on the couch.
"I'll let you undress. I'll be in the kitchen."
"Okey."
Jessica went to the kitchen and Barb got undressed. Ruby went silentely downstairs. She saw all the scars on Barb her back but there was also a tattoo. A tattoo from a dragon. Barb turned around and saw Ruby looking at her.
"Ruby..."
"From where do you have those scars?"
"They are from..."
"From dad? Did he do that to you?"
"No. I was an Guardian by myself. I was a superhero but one day I got attacked and my powers were ripped away from me. Those are the scars. I called myself Raphire. Our whole family was Raphire. Except you. We couldn't find a trace of my magic anymore and you didn't get the magic."
"But I did. Raphire is still alive but as a second soul. In my mind. We can swap bodies whenever we want."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Do I need to show you?"
"No. Not now. Let her rest for tomorrow. You say she is alive and has her own mind..."
"And life. A life in the dreamworld."
"And I never did anything. I'm kind of ashamed."
"No need. I'll go back to sleep."
"Oke. Goodnight."
"Bye."
Everyone went back to sleep and the sun began to rise again. It stopped raining and Ruby woke up hugging Elizabeth. She went out of the bed and put some clothes on while Elizabeth was waking up.
"Goodmorning Lizzy."
"Hey Ruby. How did you sleep?"
"Good. You?"
"Same. Are you going away?"
"No. I want to stay with you forever. I don't want to leave you."
"Why are you putting your clothes?"
"I spoke a bit more with my mom and she wants to see Raphire."
"Really?"
"Yeah apparently Raphire is our family. She is my grandmothers all in one."
"How do you know that?"
"My mom told me that. She was Raphire to."
"So Raphire are your powers."
"I think so yes. It's a bit complicated. I'll tell you later."
"Sure. I'll put some clothes on and go with you."
"Thanks."
Ruby kissed Elizabeth and went to the bathroom while Elizabeth was changing her clothes. They got ready and went downstairs. Barb and Jessica were sitting at the kitchen table. Ruby and Elizabeth joined them
And had some breakfast.
"Goodmorning girls. Did you two sleep good?"
"Yes moms."
"Can I show Raphire now?"
"After breakfast."
"Fine."
"So when are we going to your house and talk with Jeremy?"
"In the afternoon i geuss."
"There is a chance that he will call the police."
"We'll be ready for that. Trust me."
"Okey mom. Breakfast is over. Can I show Raphire now?"
"Fine."
Raphire stood aside while everyone was watching.
"Raphire. Your turn."
Raphire's and Ruby's mind began to switch and Raphire was in Ruby's body. Her hear turned Ruby red and her eyes turned green. Her outfit changed to a more rebelic style and in red.
"Hey Barb."
"So you're Raphire."
"Yep."
"How did you create your own mind and body?"
"I always had that. I was the first Raphire and i got in an accident with one of your grandmothers which resulted in me fusing with her. Everytime there was a new person but I always had a connection with the previous person. So that's you, Barb. Something must have happened during that rip from Jay."
"Yeah. But it's fun to see you again and see the real you."
"Yeah. I'll give Ruby the controls back."
"Wait. Do you know how to let the dragon out?"
"Yeah I watched all of you do it."
"Please teach Ruby. She needs it now."
"How do you mean?"
"I was working and my powers came back for a second. My mind was somewhere else and I painted a dark dragon with a person underneath. Darkness is coming and we need Ruby's dragon to defeat it."
"I'll try my best. Good luck with Jeremy. Yes we can hear and see what the other sees and hears."
"So she know about the dragon?"
"Yep."
Barb quickly went to Raphire and gave her a hug.
"Goodbye Raphire."
"Goodbye Barb."
Raphire turned back to Ruby. Barb released Ruby and sat back down.
"Mom are you alright?"
"Yeah I'm fine. Let's go to our house."
They went back to their house and there was a policecar in front of it. They knocked on the door and Jeremy opened the door.
"Ruby. Barb. What are you doing here."
"We want our house back."
"It's my house now."
"Why is the police here?"
"To arrest you."
"What?!"
"What did you do Jeremy?!"
"I didn't do anything. You attacked me and I was lying on the ground unable to move. You left me! Officer! They're here."
The police officer came to the door and looked at everyone.
"So who of the 4 are Ruby and Barb?"
"Us but what he's saying is wrong. I have proof."
"What proof."
"I build and planned this house. I put hidden camera's around the house. I can see and show you what you did to us."
"What?"
"Mom was there one in my room?"
"Yeah sorry but most of the time I was watching that camera when Jeremy went to you."
"Okey."
"We'll go further in this at court. Saturday. He gets to sleep here and you can sleep with you friends."
The officer went away with his car and Jeremy closed the door with a hard clap. They went back to their house and sat down on the couch.
"Did we lose?"
"No we won. We did fear in him and i have proof."
There came a tattoo on Ruby's arm and it began to burn. Ruby looked at her arm and pulled the sleeve up.
"Mom."
"From where does she have that tattoo?"
"It's her dragon. She unlocked it."
"How?"
"By accepting that I didn't tell her about the camera and that I hid my secret."
"Was that it?"
"Yep. I know it isn't much but it's simple. The hard part is to control it and defeat the darkness."
"I geuss i have to train. I'll start tomorrow with the rest. Maybe Lizzy can come with me."
"Lizzy?"
"A nickname for Elizabeth. Can she come with me please?" Said Ruby with puppy eyes.
"Fine. I can never say no to that face."
