Chapter 7: The Ice Dragon

Sky was at the base training when he got a message from the map. It showed a big temperature difference. He went to the pc and put the map up. Noah came to the base and went to Sky.
"Hey Sky. What's up?"
"There has been a temperature difference."
"Where?"
"The desert."
"What's the difference?"
"There is ice."
"How is that even possible?"
"I don't know."
"I'll go check it out."
"Let me get my stuff."
"No."
"What?"
"Didn't you see how cold it was. No human being can survive that. I can control ice. I can go just as cold as that."
"What do i need to tell the others?"
"Just say that I'm on a mission."
Sky took a staff and went to the desert. He arrived at the desert and there was snow and ice everywhere.
"He... Sky... do... Copy...?"
"Noah? Hello? Is anyone there?"
"Sky... do... copy? Sk...."
"The coms don't work here. Great."
Sky went further in the biome and saw a hole. Sky felt the air going colder when he came closer to the hole. He was at the hole and looked around. There were frozen people near the hole. He went to the people and looked at them. Sky touched the shoulders and unfroze the people.
"Is everyone good? You need to go back to the city. I'll have a look here to find the problem."
"Watch out. There is a monster in the hole."
"How do you mean?"
"We heard it sleeping and then growling. We looked down and saw white blue eyes. Glowing and looking straight at us."
"I'll handle it."
"Good luck kid."
"I'm 17."
The people ran to the city and went to the police office. Sky looked down at the hole again and felt cold air coming to him. Sky went down in the hole and arrived in a cave. It was all ice around him and dark. Sky pulled a torch out and looked around.
"From where did that air come from."
Sky walked around and found 2 other holes. He looked in the caves and flashed some light in it. He saw movement in the shadows from the cave and went inside. He looked around and heard someone moving around behind him.
"Who's there?!"
"Sky?"
A man came from behind a rock. He was wearing a cloak and his clothes was ripped.
"Sky? Is that really you?"
He came walked slowly to Sky and did his cloak off. His face was wounded and dirty. His eyes were white just like snow.
"Who are you? How do you know my name?"
"You don't remember me do you? It's been 14 years since you saw me. I shouldn't have left you. We both shouldn't have done that but it was our only choice."
"What do you mean?"
"We are your parents."
"No that's not possible. My parents are up there."
"Where do you think your powers came from?"
"I got stuck in a freezer and there came toxic gas in the room and that mutated my cells which gave me these powers and a second mind."
"That's actually a good reason. Why didn't I come up with that."
"I don't know but if you were my real dad how can i be sure you are speeking the truth."
"You have a heart formed scar on your chest since you were born."
"How..."
"I told you. I'm your dad. So how's everything going? Everything alright with your girlfriend?"
"How the heck did you know about my girlfriend?"
"I didn't. You just told me that so how is she or is it a boy? I don't mind if it's a girl or boy. Just tell me to make sure."
"It's a girl like i said. Can we leave here? Something's fishy and i don't want to stay here longer."
"You're a soldier."
"What?"
"I saw your badge. You're a soldier. Why di you come here."
"I was at my house and saw on my pc a temperature change here."
"The army send you here didn't they?"
"No they didn't. Please. Let's go to my home. I'll tell everything about what happened in the last few years."
"I can't."
"What?"
"I'm trapped."
"What do you mean you're trapped?"
"If I leave this cave, something will happen. Something bad."
"Like what? I've fought side by side with the greatest superhero ever and we fought against the darkest person yet. Or the second darkest. There is a new one."
"You won't survive this time."
"I won't but we will. If I help you out. Will you help me find the ice dragon?"
"What?"
"We need to bring the dragons back together."
"No. The ice dragon is a bad dragon. He did this."
"Then we will find him easier."
"No!"
"What's wrong dad?"
"You won't leave."
"Dad?"
James his eyes began to glow and he hands began to turn into claws. Sky backed up and went closer to the exit.
"Dad what's happening?"
"There is no dad anymore. Only Icegon."
"You're the ice dragon?"
"Your father was trapped here and starving to death. I connected woth his mind and took over his body but sometimes he takes control. Now i have the control and you smell delicious. Tell me do all the young teens smell just like you?"
"I don't know."
Sky ran out of the cave and froze the entrance off. Sky went to the hole above the cave and looked up.
"Hello?! Is anyone there?"
"Don't worry my child. I'm here."
Icegon broke the ice and turned into a dragon. He went to sky and circled around Sky. He was looking at Sky and began to smile at him. Showing his teeth and looking straight into Sky his soul through his eyes.
"So what are you going to do now little boy. I am the ice dragon and you are just a scared boy who has my powers."
"Shut up!"
"You think you're strong but you're weak. I felt your power and your strength. You're nothing without me. Now come to me and be my food."
"No. I am someone. I am Sky. The new master of ice and you aren't the real Icegon."
"Well don't you see? I am a dragon. What do I look like for you?"
"Maybe you are an evil spirit who went in my dads body and turns him into a dragon."
"Wait really?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"Well it's actually the truth."
"Well if you're a spirit then you don't have ice powers."
"No. Stay back!"
Sky froze his feet and tail on the ground and went closer to his face. He froze the rest of the body except his head and looked in his eyes.
"Am I still weak?"
"Well you only froze my body. You didn't really fight with me so yes."
Sky did a syringe in the neck and stepped away. The spirit transformed back into his dad and the ice began to go away. The serum seperated the spirit and James into two different bodies and and froze the evil spirit again.
"Dad? Is everything okay?"
"Yeah just a little lightheaded from the spirit. He messed a bit with me when he was controlling me."
"We need to get you out of here but how?"
"You know you can still make the icegon appear."
"How?"
"You need to find your fear and overcome it."
"But I don't have fears."
"Yes you do. I saw you just now. You were afraid of being useless and a nobody. You need to believe in yourself Sky. Otherwise we will be here for a while."
"We still have food."
"We don't."
"The evil spirit. We can eat him."
"We are not cannibals and we are not evil."
"Fine. I'll try to make a ice ladder or something."
"Why? Why don't you just summon icegon?"
"Because I don't want to destroy the world."
"You won't."
"I felt his power. If I summon him there is a chance to freeze the whole world."
"So that's your fear."
"What?"
"Your fear is freezing the world."
"Isn't that everyones fear?"
"Only for the people who doesn't control his powers. Or at least fully. I'm going to help you get control of your powers."
Sky sat down and closed his eyes.
"Listen to my voice Sky. Clear your mind and feel the cold from your powers. Go through the cold stream flowing through your veins and go to the source. Connect with the source and become one with your powers."
Sky his hands began to go cold and the ice began to grow around him. He opened his eyes and stood up. Sky formed his ice powers into a ball and transformed it into icegon.
"Do you want to fly?"
"You actually did it. That was way quicker then I expected. I took like a few weeks to do that and you just did it in a few minutes."
"Generations are getting faster and smarter dad."
"I can see that. Does your girlfriend know that you have..."
"Powers? No. I am trying to keep it a secret to protect her."
"Protect her by telling the truth. First let's go to your base then to your girlfriend. Deal?"
"Deal."
They flew back to the city on the dragon while the spirit began to stand up. He flew in the air and followed them to the city.
