The Nerd. The Dancer. And the Killer.

Prologue

                People tend to judge couples according to how they look. Sometimes, the perfect pair is when the gentleman is as fit as a model and as handsome as the artists while the woman stuns every man with her charm, grace and unmatched beauty. Life then becomes unfair because of these kind of prejudices, but the truth be told: love exists even in the weirdest of pairs, even in the most unlikely persons, even with persons with clashing cultures. Love will still reign.

                She is at the center stage. He’s on another. The two of them both reign in their own field. She has the figure of a professional ballerina, her straight hair drops to her shoulder, and her smile could melt even the hearts of the cold-hearted individuals. She is the epitome of beauty and of talent. Her unmatched skill in dancing and the arts make her the most wanted girl of her age. If she had lived during the time of Troy, she could outmatch Helen. Her dark eyes sparkle like the stars during the summer evening. Her choreography and execution makes it a whole new dimension; a dimension of awe and wonder. She’s the most fine-looking lady any man’s eye could lay upon. A lot of gentlemen line up just to see her, just to be with her, just to have the honor of being an  escort or even with a lot of luck: her boyfriend. They pertain to her as perfect but what they don’t know is she has a secret.

                On the other stage was a man, that’s it.

 He was just a common gentleman, though others relate to him as a nerd. True to that, he makes a name of his own through his literary works and academic achievements. But he was just that. He had no face to boast. If there was something a lot of him it was his intellect and his tummy. Abiding by the norms of the society and the prejudices of the many, we may call him: fat, big-bodied, geek, eyesore and many other things. He wears his thick glasses and he has no time for the ladies. Actually, he hated the ladies for breaking his heart numerous times. Well, he accepted the fact already. The fact that no one would love him because no one could just love someone with his kind of appearance.

 Life isn’t like the fairy tales where the ugly becomes handsome. Life is different. Reality is the ugly remains to be seen as ugly no matter how hard he would try. Furthermore, no one would love the likes of a fat nerd just doing his thing. But, fate is playful and made the two stages cross with many other lives in order for the dancer to meet the nerd, in the presence of eminent danger. The dancer meets the nerd. The nerd meets the killer. Lives are in peril. Love is in danger. Death is sure to visit.
