A Walk in the Park

It was near mid-day in the middle of spring. (Y/N), who was currently sitting in her favorite subject's class room, History, sighs and gazes out the window. How she would rather be outside enjoying the spring breeze that was starting to blow in. She could spot the blue bonnets growing outside near the road across from her high school. Through the second floor window, she smirks at the hustle and bustle of other students.

The other students, however, were not high school. They were college kids, and this only amused her more as a few were fumbling around with papers while their backpacks seemed unused on their backs. (Y/N) was currently attending an early college high school, and this was one of her dual credit classes. Her head was on her hand, and her gaze finally turns towards the professor. He was still rambling about Abraham Lincoln not being 'the great abolitionist' everyone claims he was.

The clock read 2:25 p.m.

This makes the girl smile as she brushes her long brown hair out of her face. Her bright blue eyes twinkle, and she quietly begins to pack her stuff. As the professor's gaze rolls over her, she stops. He mildly glares, gazes at his watch, then releases an irritated sigh. He gives a faint nod before continuing.

As (Y/N) finishes her packing, she carefully slips on her backpack. She needed to leave quickly in order to make it to her ride on time. He showed up at 2:35, and the rush at 2:30 made it nearly impossible everyday for her to get to the pick up area before he would leave.

Not that it mattered. (Y/N) hated this man with a burning passion and would rather walk home, and he felt the same towards her. It was only 10 miles away from school. Not to mention plenty of coffee shops to stop at on the way there.

However, her mother and father both insisted that she let him drive her home, as they both worked and it was part of the carpool deal they had. She would be late to work if she walked home, and that was a big ole nope. Her job would never fire her, however, as the managers have said she was their best barista as of yet, but pushing it too much...

She didn't want to ruin her reputation.

2:29 p.m.

One more minute, then she would be out of that door.

2:29 p.m.

Come on! Why was it taking so long for one minute to pass!?

2:29 p.m.

This is ridiculous. It has been at least two minutes.

2:30 p.m.

Without a moments hesitation, and just as the professor turns off the projector, (Y/N) is out the door, her hair flying behind her. Carefully, she rushes down the first flight of stairs, then turns and jumps down the last half of the last set. With practiced ease, she slips between the barely opened sliding glass doors and launches herself over a large rolling object being towed by a staff member of the college.

"Sorry!" She yells before continuing. She slips between people in the crowd, and a few people simply move out of the way with ease. After all, it had been this way at this exact time for almost a year now. Most of these people recognize (Y/N). She was one of the strongest and youngest athletes at the college, after all.

With ease, she makes it to the parking lot, spotting the younger boy she rides with across the way. He spots her and waves just as a large black SUV pulls up. In it's drivers seat is an older man, partially bald and grumpy. His gaze locks on (Y/N), and he sighs. This makes the girl smirk and she slowly walks over towards the two.

However, a sudden shadow overcasting her makes her turn just in time to see a large, green metal mass fly over them. It crashes in the opposite parking lot in front of (Y/N), and she turns again at the sound of planes in the air. Spotting a grey jet, she gasps as it begins to fire missiles. Snapping out of shock, she rushes towards the SUV and yells at the boy that was standing there, starring in shock.
