*HONK*
I wake up to the sound of car horns. A not so familiar sound cause I am from a small town. I look out the car window and see traffic everywhere. "Good morning sweetheart we are almost there." She gives a smile. Hmmm she is not really this happy most of the time. "Hey mom. Where are we?" "Well we are in New York. Brooklyn to be exact." My eyes widen in shock. "Mom really?" She looks at me with a sad face. I smile and say "Mom I am so excited." That was a complete lie. I am not ready for this change. I didn't want to come here. "My mom parallel parks right next to an old apparent building.
I am honestly scared to live here. I know very stereotypical of me but can you blame me. I came from living on my own property in a nice house to this. I step out of the car and look around. I take my two suitcases and backpack and follow my mom to the door. "Well this is gonna be home sweet home for now.." she looks at me with a nervous face. Nothing is going to prepare me for about what I am going to see.
My mom opens the door slowly and it leave a big cracking sound. I step in and it smells like cigarettes and alcohol. Maybe a little bit of other drugs too. I walk into the living room that leaves an overwhelming smell. I try not to show it bothers me. My mom looks at me with a fake smile. I follow her to the kitchen which looks rough. Some cabinets have no doors and the counters are sticky. "Well I'll show you to your room." My mom says sighing. She take me back a small hallway and at the end she opens a door. All I see is four walls and a very small space. I feel like crying but I keep a straight face. "Well I'll give you time to settle in. When you are ready I have blow up mattresses." My mom says as she leaves the room. I close the door behind her and look around. There are pieces of paper on the floor that kinda look like homemade cigarettes. I roll my eyes and leave the room. What am I gonna do??
