chapter six ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ
"don't you worry, child."
the following day after their discussion was filled with silence; there was an unspoken agreement that they both needed their own personal space to take in their new arrangement. jeongguk locked himself away in his office, attempting to write his novel but failing every time his fingertips hit his keyboard. taehyung busied himself with giving willow a bath, letting her soothe his nerves by giving him little smooches and playing with her in the front room. they needed their time.
it all came to a halt when jeongguk appeared in the restroom, hair mussed from spending hours running his fingers through it, frustrated with himself for his writers' block because he knows that this book could be a much-needed milestone in his career. he just needs to get a move on. he leaned against the doorframe as taehyung began to dry willow off, giving her little praises about how well she behaved while being washed and jeongguk couldn't help the fond smile on his face, "do you want to go somewhere with me today?"
the younger perked up, standing after he is done with his chore and sent willow on her way, "where are we going?"
jeongguk shrugged, scanning the boys' attire which is only his freshly washed clothes he found him in and caught his eyes once more, "is there anything you need that you don't have much of? if you are going to be staying here, you need to be taken care of properly and i can see one thing on you that i want to take care of."
taehyung pouted as he looked down to himself, "do i smell?"
the elder chuckled, shaking his head. "no, sweetheart, you need new clothes. i want to take you shopping. you can't keep wearing mine or that same outfit of yours for the rest of your stay here," as much as jeongguk would not mind seeing the younger in his clothes all of the time, he knows that the man deserves his own things. "what do you say?"
the younger mentally squeals at the usage of the sweet pet name but pouts even more, "you do so much, jeongguk, i can't ask for you to buy me clothes. i can go get money myself and get some that way," his eyes flutter towards the floor. "i have done it before. i- i'm not a lost cause or anything."
jeongguk's eyes widen and he doesn't think before nearing closer to the smaller male, cupping his fluffy cheeks and frowning at the adorable pout on his face, "i have never said you were a lost cause, taehyung. i know you are strong, i know you are capable, and i know that you do not need me. just let me help you, please? think of it as my 'thanks for being my new roommate' gift."
taehyung looks up at the elder, and it makes jeongguk's heart clench because he is still holding his cheeks, and he looks so soft, "okay."
"okay? i can buy you some clothes?" jeongguk asks, voice full of hope, almost childlike.
the younger giggles, "yeah, you can buy me some clothes."
