Opening:
New Year's Eve had came, and Aaron was still sadden from the fact that the woman he barley talked to but loved, already had a mate. He didn't know what to do with himself. He skipped a whole week of work, barley took showers, he looked and smelled homeless. His once stubbed beard began to grow into a mess, his hair tangled everywhere on his head,  bags under his eyes were dark and droopy. Including his breath, the faint smell of alcohol.

7:00, New Year's Eve, Aaron's father rang the doorbell to his house. Aaron dragged himself out of bed and walked down the wide marble spiral stair case. He swung the door open....

"Its been a week since you came to work your the CEO goddamnit!" His father barged into his house throwing his coat onto Aaron's large gray couch, sniffing the air, "have you taken a shower?" Derek stared at him with anger and disappointment. But he sensed something, his son was heartbroken, he couldn't tell who broke his heart but he knew. "Alright I'll tell you what, come to work next Thursday, I'll take your spot for a few, for now you go to the club or something." Derek handed him a card to the the Red Coconut a famous club in Malibu. Aaron rolled his eyes as he snatched the card from him, examining it seeing the words Happy New Years! Engraved in gold at the top. His father sighed and grabbed his coat as he walked out of the house. Not wanting to deal with his son.

8:30 now, and Aaron was contemplating about the club, he got cleaned up, putting on a black long sleeved shirt, unbuttoning the two buttons at the top, and throwing on his black dress pants that hunched up a few, smiling at the memory of his sister making fun of him, saying something about how his mom always said he had a nice butt. He put in more black, as he slipped on his shoes and wore his gold watch, he spritzed cologne on that clashed with his body wash, shaved and combed his hair. He tapped the counter anxiously as he stared into the mirror. He took another swig of alcohol and then left.

When he arrived at the club and skipped the line, he sighed at the loud music and woman who were acting a fool. Including the men. The flashing red lights and smells of all different types of cologne throbbed his head. He sat at the velvet red lounge chairs and scrolled through his phone. 9:36 he felt like leaving, until something caught his eye, he saw a sparkle in the dull crowd. A diamond dress, clear shoes, the dress had no back fabric, except for the fabric that covered her rear as the front had a deep V neck. Her hair, a wavy black, her body a perfect curve. Her face, beautiful. Aphmau, she licked eyes with him as her boyfriend went to go to the bar.

Aaron stared in awe at the beautiful woman who walked over to him, she sat next to him, her same vanilla lavender scent putting him in a trance. "Hi, I'd like to introduce myself properly this time." She giggled, all of the sudden the music lowered, as her voice became softer, "I'm Aphmau."

"I'm Aaron." He grinned, her face lit in surprise.

"My boyfriend mentioned you before, he used to work for you." She smiled

"Does this boyfriend have a name?" Aaron's heart broke at the sentence, but Aphmau chuckled.

"Gene," she nodded her head lightly, "we've been dating for about three months now?"

"Oh, I've heard of Gene." Aaron forced a grin. He couldn't comprehend the feelings he was experiencing, love, jealousy. Even hatred. He hated the fact that he couldn't be with her, all those months of the special eye contact the two transferred with each other, flushed down the drain. And he was jealous of the fact that Gene had her. But Aaron plastered on a smile, in hope she wouldn't notice his pain.

"Yeah, he's a great guy...." something about that sentence didn't feel right.

"I bet he is." The two sat in silence. They talked for what seemed like centuries, giggling about funny moments and talking about family. The club became emptier by the minute, that usually is very rare...The music shut off but the lights kept flashing, little to no people were in there. Aphmau searched the club for her boyfriend, no where to be seen. She felt like crying, but she couldn't possibly ruin her mascara. She gave out a defeated sigh and grabbed her belongings.

"I can give you a ride." Aaron slightly grinned and glanced at the time on his phone. Aphmau has no choice, he lead her to his car, Aphmau rubbed her hand against the soft interior and deeply inhaled a soft scent of cologne and rum.

"You know, I always knew Gene was cheating on me." Aphmau blurted out quietly. Aaron almost swerved out of lane, but kept calm. He was surprised she was still keeping up with this, but this also meant he had the ability to swoop her off her feet. "There was a couple of nights where he smelt completely different, the stains on his chest. And he had the audacity to ask me for sex." She scoffed. Aaron was dumbfounded. How could he cheat on someone so, precious? "This is it." A modern weirdly shape house appeared as Aaron pulled the car up in the drive way.

"Can I walk you up?" Aaron almost stuttered. Aphmau nodded her head, the two stepped out of the car, he led her to the door and said his goodbyes. He saw her walk up the grand staircase, and then he ran to his car like a little girl. He slammed the doors shut and yelled with victory, he actually had a chance.
