Haley POV
The rain was pouring down on the black street as it continuously been doing all week.
All week.
Normally, I didn't mind the rain. I loved, in all actuality. Hated the sun, loved the indoors.. You know, typical tumblr, hipster, punky teenage girl. I mean, that's what I wanted to be.
The rain didn't really bother me, but it was really putting a damper on what was supposed to be the best summer of my life. You know, the one right before you start college? The one where you're supposed to live your life and get drunk all the time and hook up with random people? Yes, well. That summer wasn't happening. It was the middle of July and all I had to say for myself was that I had finished Dawson's Creek.
Good for me, right? At least I was paying for my own netflix, I mean thats a pretty big step.
And my online shopping addiction was getting bad, but I mean it was okay because I really needed another Beyoncé crewneck. I mean this one was red. How could I pass that up? Who would I be as a PERSON if I didn't buy that?
Hey, I have a job. Don't judge me you dick.
So as I sat in my favourite booth in the corner of my favourite diner at 1 in the morning, my favourite time of day, I was a little conflicted about how I felt about my life. That was until, as cheesy as this sounds, my life changed forever.
Did the world explode? No.
Did my parents give me 3 million dollars? No.
Did I win a beach house from a sketchy ass raffle? No.
Did Ashton Irwin walk into the tiny little hole in the wall restaurant that I was currently sitting in?
Hell fucking no. But Michael Clifford did.
And then Ashton. And then everyone else.
And then, in complete reality, my sanity slightly stricken, the very same Ashton formally mentioned walked right up to me and asked me a very unexpected question.
'Can I get a coffee? One creme, one sugar?'
I couldn't believe my ears. Nor could I believe my eyes, so I reacted the way I normally would.
'Bitch, you think I work here? Excuse you.'
The three boys began to laugh, starting with a quiet chuckle from Michael.
Ashton grew red and sputtered a response.
'Um, I... Um.'
I was quick to ignore him, considering I was, in actuality, an asshole.
'ERIN WILL YOU PLEASE GET THIS POOR BOY A COFFEE, HE SEEMS LOST.' I yelled to my best friend who actually did work here. Maybe I wasn't such an asshole.
She laughed and the blue eyed boys attention was immediately drawn to it. I ignored it. She yelled back,
'Sure thing, darling. But who could possibly have the misfortune of meeting your acquaintance this fine morning,' she asked as she walked out of the kitchen. She almost dropped the coffee she was holding. Can't say I blame her. She recovered quickly, wearing a false facade of security and normality.
'Would any of you like anything? I'm going to be honest, I'm tired as fuck, and I would really hope that you take me up on this rare moment of hospitality.'
They all shook their heads no, chucking at her, Luke blushing slightly as they laughed.
'Your loss,' she said simply and sat down next to me, kicking her feet up on the table.
'So what's up?' She turned to me.
'Oh you know, the usual. Meeting boys at 1 am. Just chillin.'
'Good, good,' she stated. 'And you all?' She asked the boys.
Ashton spoke up. The attractive little bitch.
'I'm fine. I think they are too. What are you two doing here so late?'
'Well,' I replied curtly. I couldn't help myself. I was still so shocked the only thing I knew how to do was to be a bitch. 'I come here every night with Erin so she doesn't get bored working the graveyard shift.'
'And I,' Erin replied, 'work the graveyard shift whilst Haley here sits and watches me like the fantastic person she is. How about yourselves?'
'Well um... We're in a band you see? And we will be recording here in Seattle for the next few months. I have a feeling this will become a regular thing,' he smiled.
The boys nodded in agreement, oblivious to the fact that we knew right as rain who they were.
'Regular thing, aye?' I quirked my eyebrow. He smiled, winking at me.
I was really glad I had already finished Dawson's creek.
