If you had told me, before all this started, that it would've ended up this bad, I wouldn't have believed you. Now I know that all good things have to come to an end sometime.

*Ethans POV*

"Hi, I'm Rory, and I just moved here. You are ... ?"

I smiled before instantly replying.

"Ethan Karpathy." A simple answer to a simple question.

This was one of the few times someone had so easily made conversation, usually they just stood there staring, and I had to make conversation which, truth be told, I wasn't very good at. It seemed like she wasn't going to say anything more though, so I assumed she had the same problem as me. I guess I'd have to take initiative and start a conversation because, quite simply, this girl, Rory, was someone that seemed like you could along with easily, and to top it all of she was stunning. By this time I was raking my mind to find something, anything to say.

"Uhm, so your new around here? Geelong is a pretty cool place when you get used to it, I know how it feels to move away from somewhere you lived in for while, but you'll get over that feeling kinda quickly. Everyone that attends my school are really good friends, since it's such a small school. Anyways, to the point, do you want a tour around this area of Geelong? It's easy to get lost if you don't know the way around." I sighed. That was my attempt (a horrible one at that) at making conversation.

But I saw Rory's shoulders relax, and her mouth open slightly, a tell tale hint that she was going to continue the conversation. That was a first. In could almost see the cogs in her brain turning as she formulated a response.

"Sure! Sounds like a really good idea actually!" Was her reply. I could tell she wanted to say more, but then she smiled at me and said she'd just leave a note for her father.

I really hope I can get to be good friends with this girl, she just seems like someone you can get along so easily with.

I need more people like her in my life.

*Rory's POV*

I would never show him, Ethan he said his name was, how happy I was at him saying he's show me around Geelong. I was practically doing a happy dance (on the inside of course) from the moment he oh-so-casually mentioned the idea. He was just so ... dreamy. And he reminded me so much of Joel. Especially with his beanie. Best not to think of that. I would just start crying, because our relationship was what my moving had ruined the most. Sometimes my dad was such an inconsiderate, self centred ...

No use pressing that matter right now, thinking of it would only bring up memories, some bad, some good, and I couldn't deal with any memories right now.

Grabbing a piece of paper, I hastily scrawled a note to my father.

Dad,

Meet a really nice boy just before, he's gonna show me around Geelong. I'll text you the time I'll be back by. Love you heaps!

Pretty much as soon as I finshed writing down the last letter, I was back to the front door, quite literally jumping for joy on my way there. Upon reaching the pale wooden framed door, I threw it open, and smiled at Ethan.

"Ready to go?" He asked, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth.

"Yeah! Let's go!" I practically yelled. Ok Rory, calm down, getting a bit over enthusiastic here, it's not like he asked you out or anything, stop acting like it is or you will begin to think that!

"So, Rory, where to begin? I guess I'll show you my school, who knows, you might go there was well."

"Sounds good, Ethan!" And it was settled. He pointed out the odd few landmarks, and places I may go in my time in Geelong. After about 10 minutes of walking, we reached the outside of a sophisticated, preppy looking school, of which the bright logo emblazoned across the large front notice board read ...

..."Lakeview Crescent Junior High School, awesome! Thats where I'm going as well, it will be good to know someone who goes to my school before I actually start." And we continued like that. He pointed something out, I commented on it, and eventually we worked our way into a conversation, well more of a game of 20 questions then a conversation, but it counted as one right?

"So Ethan, you said you knew what it felt like to move and leave everything behind, so where did you love before Geelong, and how long has it been since you've moved?"

"I moved from Adelaide, and I came down here a couple of years ago now." (A/N - yes I'm just making this up, I understand that Ethan used to live in Sydney but I wanted him to be from a different place.)

And so we continued, asking each other question after question, for at least another 2 hours, before I finally made it home. I thanked Ethan for his help, and he asked for my phone. Of course I handed it to him, after unlocking it at his request. He pulled his phone out and quickly typed something in, before he said goodbye. As he was walking down the street, I watched him, and wondered about what he had done with my phone. I would have to check that out later. Smiling I murmured, so quietly that it was barely audible,

"I hope to see you again, Ethan, the boy with the beanie."

And with that, I turned smartly on my heel and entered my new home, that for the first time I was thankful I was living in.
