Eva was a sweet and mature twenty-year-old California girl that had her life and future planned out. She lived in a small house with her mother, father, and older brother Manuel. Everyone was very close and told each other almost everything, even when arguments occurred they remembered the importance of the bond with their family members. That summer, Eva returned home after being away for a semester at a University campus in Los Angeles. She was happy to be home and couldn't wait to feel everyone's embrace, but as soon as she walked through the door and saw her older brother reading her journal, shit hit the fan.

"I'm going to murder you, give me back my journal right now Manuel!".

"But it's too interesting to part ways with.", he said starting to read the next page in my journal.

"Dear Diary, Jason finally noticed me today, Oh God, his smile is worth more than all the gold in the world..".

"I'm going to murder you!".

I started chasing my brother upstairs, with a strong desire to get my journal back, he always had a way of getting under my skin. He was older than me by 2 years, but he acted like a five-year-old.

"Mom help me, Eva is acting like a lunatic!".

"Give it back Manuel!".

"Oh for goodness sake, she just got home Manuel, what could you have possibly done already?".

"Nothing, she is just exaggerating".

"He stole my old diary! The one I had in high school!".

"Manuel, I don't have time for this. Just give her notebook back."

"Fine!". He said tossing me back my notebook.

"You're an idiot."

"And you're a moron. Don't you realize that I could have made copies?".

"You wouldn't dare!".

"Hello everyone, what's going on?", my dad said walking in with his briefcase.

"Thank goodness you're here. Maybe you can tame these two!", my mom said pulling my dad closer towards us.

"He's the one who started it!". I yelled

"And I'll be the one to finish it." Manuel said sticking out his tongue.

"Honestly both of you need to stop fighting. We're only all together for a short while, we must enjoy it.", my dad said pushing us away from each other.

"So don't misbehave! We are going to enjoy each other's presence!". my mom yelled.

"Okay jeez."

"You need to chill mom.", Manuel said backing away from her.

"As long as everyone understands that, then I'm fine."

"Anyway, I came up here to tell you that I'm making Lasagna for dinner tonight."

"That's great John."

"O.M.G I love your lasagna, Dad!"

"I call the biggest piece!", said Manuel raising his hand.

"Not if I get there first."

As my brother and I ran into the kitchen to fight over who gets the bigger slice of lasagna, my mother and father stayed upstairs. I loved having dinner with my family, even through rough times, it felt nice and I missed doing it so much when I was away. After Manuel and I finished playing rock, paper, scissors to decide who gets the bigger slice, my parents walked in laughing at us. When everyone got their slice we sat down at the table and started eating, laughing, and talking as a family should.
