Selena Quintanilla Perez was born on April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas. Selena was the youngest child of the three siblings, Suzette and A.B. Quintanilla.
Her parents are Abraham Quintanilla and Marcella Samora-Quintanilla.
Selena starting singing at age of 8 by forming a band from her father, Abraham, called Selena Y Los Dinos with her sister Suzette and her brother A.B. Selena was the lead singer. Suzette was the drum player. AB was the guitar player.

The band performed on weddings, fairs, carnivals, and shows. The people love her and the music they make.
Around that time, the parents was struggling in a hard time between the music and their family Mexican restaurant, Papagayos by the money. So the family had to shut down the restaurant and move to a new house.
