"Verilion!" shouted three of the six Guardians at the same time. The Guardian of Wisdom folded his golden wings and quickly regained his balance, because he had to stand on one leg. In the other, he had a small package of tangled leaves and grass.
Verilion slowly limped to Raya in a bit funny way, as he couldn't fully stand on his second leg.
"Do you really wish to undo what has been done?" he asked her.
"What do you mean by that?" She was looking at him like at someone who was completely foreign to her.
Verilion let go of the item and untangled the grass with one snap of his beak. Leaves opened and revealed the beige gem inside.
The other Guardians gathered around him. Just like them before, Raya was shocked.
"How...?"
"Raya, this is the Shard of Time. Kate and Tawarthion uncovered it in the cave where the Crystal of the World exploded. It can help us restore the world to what it used to be," said Verilion.
"But how?" Neither Tawarthion and nor anyone else could understand the Guardian of Wisdom. "There is no Guardian of Time and we don't know how to make the Shard choose someone."
"We don't need too," Verilion smiled. "We'll just use it to reconstruct the Crystal of the World."
The first thing that was to be heard after a moment of absolute amazement and incomprehension was Morcion's question.
"What???"
"You heard correctly, friend," Verilion confirmed.
"But... how?? How do you think we can recreate the Crystal?" Lerinth's voice was louder than it needed to be.
"We can't," Verilion smiled again. "But she can."
And he pointed at Kate.
All eyes, except her own, turned to the Guardian of Elements. Kate, although she was listening closely, was just as confused as the others.
"Me? How can I do something like that?"
"Yes, how can she? Start making sense, Verilion!" Morcion didn't like being toyed with.
"Listen. The original Crystal has been torn apart by its own power into the Shards. And those Shards, no matter how mystical or powerful, are still stones by their basis. And if they are stones, Kate should be able to manipulate them and merge them back together. The only thing that we need to do is to give up our Shards, so that she can unite them."
Verilion's speech left everyone thinking on the highest level.
"So, this has been your plan all along..." Tawarthion was trying to take it in.
"Not all along. Just since you found the Shard of Time. With its power, the world can be restored."
"But wait," said Eriana. "You said that the Crystal of the World was torn apart by its immense amount of power. How do you know that the same won't happen to Kate, once she taps into it?"
"She was able to resist you, me and Raya when she wasn't more than a few months old, much less a Guardian, remember?" he pointed out. "She's a Guardian's daughter. Because of that, she has the power of Elements in her own body. Unlike us, who have the Shards to connect to our domains' powers, her connection is natural. That's why we weren't able to see into her. That's why you're more powerful than any of us." He looked at her. Kate looked back at him, and then at the others. After this statement, she felt completely foreign.
