(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

Dear Diary,
Today I wasn't feeling the greatest. I tripped over Brooke's foot, I think she wanted me to, but we're friends she wouldn't purposely embarrass me! Would she? Anyway people kept pointing and laughing in my direction, it's been going on the whole week actually! I don't quite know what happened yet, but I hope it's nothing bad. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.
                          Love,
                               (Y/N)

After locking my diary back up, I put it back up in its hiding spot inside one of my plant pots that held a fake, green succulent. I began to think back to what had happened today.

"Gahhh!"

"Watch where you're going, I can't believe I'm friends with such a clutz." Brooke rolled her eyes dramatically after mumbling the last bit of what she said. I wasn't supposed to hear it so I acted like nothing happened.

"Sorry, I didn't see your foot there." She gave me a blank stare and turned towards my other friends who were sitting around her. Blake, he's an awesome flute player and super adorable, Jennie, she's a teacher's pet and is super smart, Kyra, her parents are kind of rich so she's basically just a spoiled brat, and Gerald, he is Brooke's boyfriend (not gonna lie he's super hot). Gerald is a dream boy, he has sharp cheekbones, dark fluffy hair, freckles spread across his nose and cheeks, deep aqua coloured eyes, and very defined brows.

"She's such a....." Brooke whispered the last part to the group so I couldn't hear it. She smirked and turned back to me while the rest of them stared at me obviously holding back laughter. I wonder if she told them a joke! Why couldn't I hear it too? "You can leave now."

"Right, I'll go!" I smiled and slipped back into my seat, looking over my shoulder back at the group one more time to see them huddled together telling secrets I couldn't know. Laughing about things I don't understand, was it about me?

                  ~° back at home °~

"(Y/N), sweetie, do you mind coming here for a second." My mother interrupted my thoughts,
"Sure! I'm coming." I tried to respond like my normal peppy self, but it was a bit off since I had just been pondering about some depressing stuff.
"Okay darling, come when you're ready."

I picked myself up off of my memory foam bed and wiped my eyes, trying to get rid of any sign of sadness. I silently trudged down our staircase, straightening myself up before I reached the bottom step. I peaked around the corner, my mother was sitting on the couch with a piece of folded paper in her hand, she looked very disappointed and stressed.

I went around the corner and she noticed my presence. Her mood suddenly switched to a forced happiness, I knew something was up. She only hides her emotions when she's about to scold me or yell at me for something I did. I think she tries to act happy so that she can try to control herself before she goes insane.

"Hey sweetie..... Um, your report card came, and I wanted to talk to you about it." The hint of bitterness in her joyful voice made me choke back the tears, I knew what this was about now. "You have a B+ in two classes, a B- in math, and an A- in science. The only As you have are in gym and social studies." She took a deep breath, the mask over her anger was starting to wear off.

"Mother..." She looked me dead in the eye for a second and whipped her head back down at the paper full of my grades. I could feel the tension in the room grow stronger as droplets threatened to spill out of my eyes.

"(Y/N), you know I give you everything you need. A house, food, clothes, and love." She paused trying to regain her calmness and failing. "Do you truly love me, is this how you repay me? Failure is not accepted in this house." Her eyes were filled with hatred glossed over with despondency as they stared me down. The grayness in the pair of orbs stung right into my heart, I knew I wasn't good enough. I need to try harder.

"Go to your room, you're grounded for 2 weeks. Your father wouldn't approve of you.... He never would." She ended her sentence with such enmity, she was right. I ran up to my room and locked myself inside. The only thoughts I had left were still running in my mind, along with what she said about my father.

Hey guys! So this is just a short chapter, I'm trying my hardest to keep up with my book, but from the amount of homework I get, and how lazy I am, it's kind of hard. Anyway if you're confused, sorry. This is the first actual book I've written and I still don't know where I'm going with it. Anyways that's all!
