It's just sitting there
Growling and barking as soon as you move
There's a girl in the corner, her hands covered in scars from trying to pet it in the past
"Befriend her", she says
You shake your head
It's dangerous
"She's just scared, it's okay"
It's disgusting
It hurt her
"She didn't mean to, she didn't realise."
You hate it
You writhe your hands, they're shaking
A single big white scar across your palm
It's rough against your fingertips
The dog hurt you
You're under no obligation to forgive it
"Then just try to understand her," she whispered
You're shaking
You wanna run
Memories long past, before you realised it was hurting you
When you thought that if you just changed it's fur it would be Good
More walks
Fewer treats
Less love
Less safety
It would turn it
"Good"
You don't believe that anymore
Nothing could turn this dog good
And you made it that way
You're not good either are you?
You haven't changed
Every person you touch feels the dogs presence in the scar on your hand
Jo one asks
But you tell them
You let them close
You don't let alot of people do that anymore
Don't bother
Don't even learn their names
Cause the dog is always with you and who knows who it'll hurt next
Hopefully, you think, it'll be me
