- Chapter One -

The sound of the rain pouring outside could be heard from inside the building. Jamie, the elemental of wood, worked at her desk going through the piles of papers that lay scattered.

It was late at night. If she was a human with a normal life and job, she would probably be having dinner with her loved ones right now. However, that was not the case here. It never will be.

Jamie sighed and closed her eyes. She never wanted to be an elemental. As she took in a deep breath, she remembered the day that she discovered that she was an elemental. It made her scared knowing what she was capable of. All through her childhood, she tried her best to keep it a secret from her human parents, hoping she could still have a normal life.

Every night, she would sneak into the forest near her home and sit among the trees as she cried about her predicament. The only thing that could soothe her was being among the trees. When she sat there, she could feel their majestic power flowing within her and she could find peace from within the forest. It was where she felt she should be. It was where she wanted to be.

Then one day, she came. The woman known to the elementals as Mother Nature. Jamie had only seen for a short while but she knew this woman was anything but good news.

She arrived without warning at the front door of her family’s house. At first, she did not make her intentions clear and Jamie’s father quickly asked her to leave.

When it was obvious that things did not go her way, the woman suddenly became more aggressive. Jamie’s mother took her to her bedroom and she remained there alone for half an hour. What was said between her parents and Mother Nature that night, she never knew. It haunted her even to this very day.

Some time passed before Jamie’s father came into the room and took her to the front door. There was Mother Nature, who took Jamie’s hand and led her away from her home. Looking back at her house, she saw her parents at the front door with sad looks on their faces for the very last time.

She had been gone for a very long time. Jamie once tried to return to her home but when she got there, her parents had sold their home to another family. Where they had gone, she had no idea and further searches proved fruitless. As a result, she had no choice but to remain by Mother Nature’s side. There was no one else she knew.

Things were not as bad as it seemed, however. Under Mother Nature’s care, Jamie was tutored to the point of academic excellence in several subjects. Several years passed and Jamie came to accept her sad reality and forced herself to be loyal to Mother Nature regardless of the situation. There was no one who could help her and she had nowhere to go.

Then one night, the angel, Syschela, appeared. Syschela was one of the special types of angels who worked as an aide to selected elementals. Syschela served the elemental of darkness. That was all she knew about the angels. She had no clue where this race of winged humanoids came from and she dared not ask. Some knowledge came at the price of one’s life and Jamie thought that she felt more comfortable being alive. Anyway, she didn’t know Syschela that well to pop the question.

Syschela introduced herself but Jamie found that she could not fully focus on her words. The beauty of an angel was hypnotising to all, regardless of the gender of the observer and Jamie was no exception.

Her long, silky jet-black hair sat on her shoulders. A scimitar hung from the belt of her hip. The skin of her cheeks looked so smooth. Jamie felt as though she wanted walk over to the angel and touch the angel’s soft skin and she didn’t want to stop there. She wanted to touch the rest of the angel’s body.
