Chapter 17!

Nikki's P.O.V

Once we arrived to the campground I ran to my dad right when the car stopped, leaving Zayn in the dust. I gave him the biggest hug I could have.

"We always knew your dream would come true, huh?" He said, looking like he was about to cry. Crap, way to bring me down, dad! I smiled.

"Yeah I guess so." I said into his shoulder. I was going to miss him so much. I finally let go and sighed.

"Dad, why are you crying?" I said, laughing.

"Well, because I wont see you fro a while. And what if, what if something happens?" he said. Oh no. I dont want my dad to go through this.

"Nothing is going to happen. I have the boys. And they are amazingly sweet and have helped me alot. And today I realized how much they cared for me. I know they will take good care." I said reassuringly, then Zayn came up next to me and smiled.

"Dad, this is Zayn, one of the boys from One Direction.....and my boyfriend." I said the last part quietly but my dad still heard it. Zayn stuck out his hand, to shake it and my dad shook.

"Boyfriend, huh? Well, she hasnt dated anybody for years. That I know."

"I know, sir. I promise to really take care of her. I care for her alot." Zayn said, I smiled.  

"Can we talk, Zayn?" He said. Oh god. Zayn shot me a nervous look. I smiled to let him know it was going to be fine.  Him and my father walked up to the ol' camp store. I stayed outside and looked over to where the lake was. 

"DUKE!!!" I yelled and ran towards him. Stupid, maybe, but when  you have a dog like Duke hes your best friend right then and there. He ran to me like he was happy too. i got on my knees in the sand and started playing with him.  I was putting my hands on either side of his head and shaking it. Patting him on the back, giving him kisses. This dog was my life. I was probably going to miss him the most. I layed in the sand and Duke was laying next to me. I petted him and gave him kisses now and then. It felt like 5 hours till Zayn and my dad came out. Zayn was standing above me, laughing. I looked up. 

"I dont want to leave him." I said sadly looking at Duke. He was so happy that I was back. Zayn came down beside me. And patted Dukes, head.

"I know, but you have to start your dream some how, huh?" He said. I nodded. Starting to tear up.

You may wonder how you can be so attached to a dog, but its not hard trust me. This dog was my bestfriend, someone who you can tell all your secrets too and he wouldnt tell anyone. Its hard letting go to an animal. Ive had to do it before.

"Zayn, how long will we be gone?"

"About 3 months. Not that long." He said, I nodded and smiled a bit.

"I guess he will be alright for that long."

"You know, he doesnt act himself when you arent here." My dad said. Thanks for making me feel worse.

"Duke! You be a good boy alright?" He whimpered as in understanding and not wanting me to go. One single tear came down my face. I rubbed his face. 

"It will be okay, I wont be gone for that long. " I whispered to him. I kissed him one last time and got up to leave. Zayn got up and follwed me. I hugged my brother and my dad one last time and Duke. Then got into the car, as did Zayn. 

" I thought you would be upset more over your dad then Duke." Zayn said while driving I shrugged. 

"I love Duke, hes family to me. My bestfriend. Ive had him for 8 years, Im going to miss him. What if something happens to him while Im gone?" Zayn grabbed my hand ans squeezed it reassuringly.
