i’m standing backstage at my showcase where i am to be revealed to the world as stray kids’ 9th member. i have heard they don’t know anything about me, not even my name. i was super excited to join stray kids. the meeting i organised with jyp himself went really well and eventually he decided to make me an addition to the group, making sure i took part in the final challenges as my last initiation tests.

“stray kids are with us today to reveal a little surprise aren’t they?”

the mc asks from on stage, interrupting my train of thought.

“yes we are! we, in fact, are here to reveal…”

chan teases the fans leaving them hanging.

“OUR 9TH MEMBER!”

they all yell in unison. the crowd erupts in screams and cheers from the fans.

“why don’t we meet them then?”

the mc asks. that's my queue.

i step onto stage with a bright smile and the already deafening screams get louder. i shyly wave at the fans and make my way to greet stray kids. they’re all in shock with their mouths hanging open.

“h-hello my name is huang y/n.”

i bow a full 90 degrees.

“-a girl.”

jisung mutters, with a tone that implies he always knew or at least suspected.

“y-yep.”

i reply, slightly nervous for their reaction.

“well this is… new.”

chan snaps out of his daze.

“oh uh 1, 2! hello, we’re stray kids!”

“n-nice to meet you.”

i say still a bit intimidated by the crowd.

“uh hi. i-i’m jeongin. i was just wondering, when’s your birthday?”

“my birthday is the 15th of j-january 02.”

“y-you’re younger than me!”

he exclaims.

“well hello maknae. i’m woojin. talk to me casually yeah?”

i nod and wave at him as he waves back flashing me a cute smile.

“uhh i don't want this to be awkward or anything but i love your song hellevator and know all of your faces since i have watched your survival show…”

“haha oh thats fine! i'm chan the leader but i guess you already know!”

i nod. he smiles brightly at me causing me to smile back.

“why don't you introduce yourself to the fans?”

felix suggests. i nod again, lifting the mic the staff have me to my lips.

“hello everyone my name is hyun. i am a dancer and rapper please accept me and treat me as one of stray kids!”

i yell with enegry however i am aware that i talk very fast when i'm nervous. when the fans just continue screaming and crying out different members names, including mine,  i smile. waving at the crowd, i take into account the amount of eyes and cameras, all focused on me. i gulp. no more normal life y/n, better get used to this real quick.

the boys did a performance of hellevator for the fans before we left, all getting squished into one car and heading to what i assume is the jyp practise building. as we are driving me and the boys have fun little stupid conversations and i can’t seem to push the hysterical feeling out of my stomach.

p.s. i am so sorry if you didn't want a stage name (hyun) but you can just read it as y/n but if loads of people complain i might change it
